Out of the darkness and into the fire
[Bb] Whoa, whoa
A couple weeks ago, Scott came to me with this [Em] little crumbled up piece of paper
and he brought it to me and he said,
Lindsay, I've been [G] working on this forever.
I started writing it when me and Tomas were traveling
[Em] and this is what I've got.
And we sat down and we wrote
and it probably only took us like a night
because everything really just [G]
flowed
and we came up with this song that's really, really [Em] overdue.
In 2012, Scott and I both lost a [G] really amazing person
in an accident involving a freight train.
[D] He was traveling.
His name was Tomas.
And [C] 14 months later, his [Em] amazing mother, Toni, lost her battle with cancer.
Toe, toe, toe, I need you have [G] to go
I was devastated.
A lot of people [Em] were devastated.
[G]
Tomas was my first love and my best friend for a really long time.
[Em] And when I was 15 years old, [G] his family took me in.
They taught me things.
They loved me.
They cared [Em] for me.
His mom was like a second mother to me.
And his [G] siblings were my siblings.
They are absolutely the biggest part of who I [D] am today.
If you know any band, profane, [C] sass, you should all [Am] go [Em] listen to.
I really feel like it's important that he continues to live on
and that his music inspires everyone else the way that it [G] inspires me.
It was a tremendous loss and it took a [Em] long time
for this song to become a reality.
[G] A lot of healing and a lot of time for us to be [Em] ready for it.
But it's beautiful and I hope [G] that you guys enjoy it.
