[C]
[B] [C]
[G] [D]
[C] [Db] Awesome cool summer time blues with an awesome awesome tasty flute solo.
Yes [Abm] please.
I'm breaking down the whole thing.
I'm breaking down the chords, the strum pattern, and I'm even going to break down that awesome flute solo.
Okay?
So you can play this with a friend, you can play it by yourself, you can have a lot of
fun with it.
Can't Heat happens to be one of my favorite band names out there.
I think that concept of Can't Heat is [E] just so cool.
Plus the adjective noun formula works fantastic.
[B] What's your favorite band name?
Leave a comment below.
They can be real [Ab] or you can go ahead and even invent them.
That's fine.
Okay?
So if you want you can be a patron, it starts at just a dollar a creation, with [Db] capsule
loads a dollar a month.
And [B] you have a PDF with the flute solo, [D] everything in front of you to follow along with this
lesson, but you don't [C] need them to learn because I'll put the tabs on the screen.
All you need is your ukulele brain [Bb] and attention span.
When you're ready to go out to the country, [C] go ahead and grab all three and follow me on.
Let's do this.
Can't Heat.
This stuff is so [G] good.
Okay, why don't we go ahead and go through the chords, the rhythm, the 12 bar, and then
I'll go to the [C] intro to the [F] very end.
Okay?
So you need a B [Bb] flat, E
[Ab] flat.
[Eb]
I don't [F] know if the graphic, [E] I gotta double check, I don't know if the graphics are the same.
I play it [Eb] open, two, two, one, so I play my E flat and an [F] F.
[Eb] You're also going to need to be able to mute for this one because the rhythm's going to
go [Bb] like this.
Going out to country.
[Eb]
I'm going out to country.
[Bb]
[F] [Cm]
[Gm] Okay, [Ab]
so what we're doing is [C] we're doing a down up mute and it's going to be a one and
two, one and two and three and four.
[D] So the mutes are twos and [G] fours and it's a 12 bar blues, so take the B flat and [Bb] practice
that nice and slow first.
One and two and three and four and one and two and three and four.
One and two and three and four and one and two and three [C] and four.
The idea is that you're going to play four bars of that, two of E flat, then two more
B flat, then at the end F, E flat, and then two of [E] B.
Alright, so they're all right here [N] and I'm just going to light up when I'm on each of those bars.
Okay?
So here we go.
[Bb]
[Eb]
[Bb]
[F] [Eb]
[Bb]
[Eb]
[Bb]
[F] [Eb]
[Bb]
[D]
Alright, so that is the entire song.
If you want to sing along and play along with it, I'm going out [Bb] to country.
[Gb] That's the whole tune, okay?
But, there's that really cool tasty [Ab] lick at the end, which is a flute essentially doing
[N] a B flat major pentatonic blues solo, touching on the B flat minor pentatonic.
Alright?
A scale that we probably don't play a lot on the ukulele, so your fingers might feel
a little twisted and weird at first.
Well, let's go ahead and break it down, alright?
It's basically one repeating phrase.
You're going to kick [C] it off like this.
Six, hammer eight, and slide ten.
And then get your pointer finger on the eighth fret of the A string.
Happens pretty quick, right?
Then we're going to go into [G] the phrase that we're going to see over and over again.
Slide from nine to ten, nine being [E] B flat minor pentatonic, [Db] ten being B flat [G] major.
Okay?
[C]
So, pinky [C] on the eighth fret, ring finger, fifth fret of [D] the C, hammer seven, middle
[C] finger, sixth fret of the E.
[E] [G] Alright, now the beginning rhythm is a little different,
and at times the rhythm there's a little different, so you're going to want to [Cm]
really, really
listen to the tune and [B] try and play along with it, alright?
But [D] this is note for note.
I've been playing along with it all morning.
[C] [Gm] Okay, so [G] practice that, just up to that, and practice that and feel good with it.
[C]
[Eb]
Alright.
[Gb] Okay, so the next phrase is really similar to the first phrase.
The only difference is we're going to repeat this nine, [B] ten, two times.
So we're going to go, [Cm]
alright?
[B]
[C]
[Cm] [A] The next phrase is the exact same, except we're only going to do the nine to ten one time.
[Eb]
[G] Alright?
And now, when you get to that part where it's repeating itself, there the timing [Gb] is a little more similar.
Listen to the, when you really listen to the track, listen to the record, and listen to
[G] how the first phrase, the timing is going to be, the phrasing and timing is a little
different than the second tune.
Alright, the next [D] time we're going to go nine to ten,
[C] and then pinky on the, what's that?
Five, seven, eight fret of the A, and we're going to play it two [E] times.
Four slide five, [D] [B] eight, [Em] five hammer [C] seven, six.
Okay [Gb] so let's do that whole intro [Bb] riff together.
[C]
[B] [C]
[G] [C] [D]
[C] [Gm] Going down to the country.
And [G] then the song starts, alright?
Because that's just [C] actually just a twelve bar blues solo.
So if you listen the whole time, if you had [G] two ukuleles underneath it, you could do the
[C] rhythm that we did for the chorus and the lyrics, and that would happen just one time
without the lyrics.
Alright?
Okay, [Bm] there it is.
Going [E] up to the country.
Hand Heat, they performed at Woodstock.
Great tune.
It's a summertime tune, and in fact, every time I hear it, it's almost the exact same as
In the summer time, when the women walk.
In the summer time, when the women walk.
[Db]
Yodely do do, yodely do do, do do do [C] do do do do do.
The [Eb] melody is almost exactly the same, one is just in the key of E.
We've never done summertime, so if you want to hear some of that [D] good old mongo jerry,
leave a comment below and we'll do it, okay?

I just realized this is an F major 7.
New chord!
Alright [C] everybody, take care.
Rock and roll.
Alright everybody, so that [G] was it.
[Bb]
[C] [Eb]
[F] [Bbm]
[B] If you're a wise [G]
ukulele player, [E] you'll understand [Bm] which of those notes are major or minor, [Abm] and
then you'll transpose it into other keys and other blues, [C] like a nice C blues to have some
fun with, [F] alright?
[Ab] If not, it's cool.
I hope you dig [Bb] it, alright?
[F] New ukulele every Wednesday, Saturday.
[Dm] Take care and we'll see you soon.
Bye everybody, rock [N] and roll.
