Hey, how's it going out there?
Marty Schwartz here with GuitarJams.com. Got a cool bluesy
classic rock lesson for you.
And real quick, you can click down there for _ _ an e-book and
I also sent a bunch of cool blues lessons that are not on YouTube.
So you can check
that out.
Here we go!
I'm going to teach you that awesome lick to start with, I think will
be a good idea.
Now it uses the open E _ _ minor [Em] pentatonic scale, also known as, you can also
play, you know, think of it as the blues scale.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
The blues scale is just an added note. _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [Dm] [N] But
you know, a lot of lessons on both of those scales on GuitarJams.
So here we go.
We're
going to do, _ you can do your ring finger or your middle finger.
If you're going to do
your ring finger on the third fret of the B, then use your middle finger _ on the second
fret.
And if you're using your middle finger here, use your index finger here for efficiency.
So we're [D] going to go, _ _ _ I use my ring finger on the third fret of the B.
_ _ _ Then middle finger
_ is already down on the second fret.
We go, _
[A] _ _ _ then open.
[G] _ _
[D] _ _ [Gm] _ _ [Em] _ And you're going to be able to
cut the notes off with your right [D] hand.
_ Then _ _ _ [Gm] _ _
[D] _ _ _ [E] _ [D] _ _ _ [Gm] _
_ _ _ [D] _ _ [Gm] _ _ _
_ _ we're going to hammer on the second fret of
the D string with our [D] middle finger.
[A] _ _ [E] So we got, _ [A] _ [Em] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [D] _ [A] _
_ [G] _ [Dm] _ _ [Em] _ _ _ _
[B] we're going to hit [E] that a second time.
Did you see that? _ _
[F] _ [D] _ _ _ [Em] _ _ _ _
_ _ [Dm] _ _ [Em] _ _ _ _
[A] _ [B] _ _ _ So immediately after that second hit there, we're going to hammer second
[A] fret of the A string.
[B] _ [D] So, _ [A] _ [G] _ _ [D] _
[E] _ _ _ [A] _ [B] _ _ _ _
[D] _ _ _ _ _ _ followed by an open D string right here.
_ [A#] So check it out.
[D] _ _ _ [A] _ [G] _ _ [D] _
[Em] _ _ _ _ [A] _ [B] _ [D] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ Right
from that [G] open D, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ we're going to go to the third fret of the low E string.
_ _ [Em] _ _ _ _ [D] _ _
[A] _ [Gm] _ _ [E] _ _ [A] _ [G] _ _
[Em] _ _ _ _ _ And most,
all those notes are pretty much, you know, you got to cut [D] them off. _
[Em] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ One more time, super
slow the whole thing.
_ _ _ All [A] _
_ [G] _ _ _ [Em] _ _ [D] _ [E] _
_ _ _ _ _ [A] _ [B] _ _
_ [D] _ _ _ [G] _ _ _ [Em] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [E] right, now the chords, you can play an E7 chord, which is like taking
a regular E major chord and taking your ring finger off, _ _ _ _ _ or adding your pinky to the third
fret of the B string here, or some kind of combination of both, _ [Bm]
or just the ring [E] finger _ _ _ _
off.
Any of those are going to work.
_ [Bm] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
The one I like though is taking a C7 chord.
So
[C] if you take a C major, _ _ _ _ you add your pinky to the G string _ _ on the third fret right there.
If you move that up a whole step, [D] you have a D7.
_ If you move it up another whole [E] step,
you have an E7.
_ So that's a really good one because you can also get the open E in there,
and you can get the open high E in there.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ And then it goes, oh, [A] soo, zee, cue, and we're
going to do an A chord.
Now if you're more comfortable with the open chords, you can
play A, _ _ _ _ _ [C] _
and on U, it's B, a C chord, _ _ _ _ _ followed immediately by a [B] B7, _ _ _ _ back to the [Bm] E. _
_ [A] If you
do it with bar chords, it's an A bar chord here.
_ You can take your [G] pinky off to make
it [A] A7, _ _ _ _ and [A#] then up to the eighth fret, _ [C] _ _ _ [F#] followed by the [B] seventh fret.
So that's a really good
one.
So you can play that open E, followed [C] by that C7 [E] shape _ with the E root as the E7
chord.
So check it out.
I'll play both spots.
Start with the open.
_ I like the way you walk. _ _ _
I like the way you jump. _ _ _
I like [D] the way [A] you A, _ _
[C] C, [B] _ E, [E] _ E.
_ _ I like the way you show.
_ _ _ _ Never
did it before.
_ _ _ _ [Bm] Then we go [G] to [A] A, _ _ [C] C, [B] _
[D] E.
_ _ [Em] _ _ _ _ [G] _
_ [E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [A] _ _ [Em] _ _ [C] _
_ [B] _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ Cool. _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
_ [D] _ [C] _ _ _ [B] _ _ [A] _
[C] _ [E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [Em] _ _ _ _ [Am] _
[G] _ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [F#] _
_ _ [E] _ _ [C#] _ _ _
That's it.
[G] Thanks for hanging out with me. _ _ _
