Mustang Sally - Inspired Blues Rhythm Guitar Tutorial - (Older Beginners Welcome) chords
Start Jamming...
Alright, so what we're gonna do here is not a traditional 12 bar blues.
This is gonna be more of a kind of old school rock and roll blues.
Doesn't really, you know, mean it's any different really.
Maybe just try and add a different feel.
[A] Then
[F#m] we're [A] not gonna do that.
We're gonna do something like this.
That's it.
So I wanna try and break that rhythm down for you.
It's just kind of like a rock and roll, boogieing along, dance floor, people are having fun.
Okay, so we're gonna take this A7 chord and we're gonna start with this.
Bum, three, four, three, four, three, four.
Just a good strong downbeat.
So then we go like this.
And you could hit that second one or you could just, I'm just kind of muting it.
Which is just, you know, one, two.
One, two.
You can hit it or get a muted sound.
Okay, now we're gonna add to it.
I'll play it and then you play it.
[C] [D] [A]
[B] [A]
[G] [A]
You see?
I just added another downbeat.
Three, four.
Two more strums is what we're gonna add.
Check it out.
[G#m] So I [C] just had another kind of fake, kind of [A] muted sound there.
Bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum.
Just play it with me.
We're gonna keep that rhythm going.
And the cool thing about this kind of music is that you can, you know, if you can play along with me and do different rhythms, you can get as creative as you want.
I'm just giving you a guideline.
Okay, so here's what we're gonna do.
We're almost through the whole thing.
We're gonna go like this.
We're gonna play that A7 or what's called the one chord.
One, two, three, four.
So four of those rhythm patterns on that first chord.
Then we're gonna go to the D9 chord.
Same [D] rhythm pattern.
[F#]
So did you notice that was two of those rhythm patterns on that D9 chord?
Check it out.
[D] One, two,
[A] back to two more on the first chord again.
Just like that.
Then we're gonna go up to the [F] E9 chord.
[E] Oops, sorry.
The E9 chord.
[D]
[A]
Then the whole thing starts over.
And then everyone takes a solo.
Everyone shreds over it.
That's the whole thing.
So let's play it together.
Do your best to play it with me.
I'll play through that whole progression two times.
And the cool thing is, you know, here I am in a video that you can rewind as many times as you need to to keep playing with me.
All right, so here we go.
Starting with the A7 chord.
One, two, one, two, rock and roll.
Here we go to the D9.
[D]
[A] Back to the A7.
E9.
[E]
Break.
Four, five, six, seven, [A] eight.
Starts over.
Here we go.
A, [D] A.
[A]
[E]
[Am]
[G] [C#] [A]
[D] [A]
[D] [A]
That's it.
Keep it nice and simple but with a nice [N] groove.
