[Em] Hey what's up y'all, I'm Claire Dunn.
Thank [Bm] you so much for joining me.
Today we are checking out the Fender Elite [Em] Stratocaster.
Stay tuned and we're going to go over some of the [E] amazing features.
[G#]
[D] [E]
[A] One of the first features we're [C#] going to talk [E] about is the amazing fourth generation [D#] noiseless pickup.
[E] And [B] these are really great.
Any [F#] player out there who's ever played a Stratocaster [E] knows that they can tend [D] to be noisy depending
on what kind of a stage you're on, what the light situation is, how many other amps are on there.
I was in the studio the other day, you know I was in the control room, I was in front
of the Pro Tools rig and the lights for some reason kept interfering.
I'd have to like turn a certain way in order to get the noise out of my pickups and I really
wish I would have had one of these guys because that would have been a non-issue.
What these guys do is really eliminate all that excess junk, as I like to call it, that
you don't want and all you get is your beautiful Stratocaster tone and you're good to go.
The next feature we're going to be talking about is this really amazing switcheroo here.
That's not the technical term for it but it is the S1 switch.
And what's really great about it is it gives you a lot of tone variation and quite frankly
the tone options are pretty limitless.
I really love it because I am a one guitar per show kind of girl.
I don't really switch up guitars a lot.
When I find my favorites I stick to that.
So what's great about this guitar is I can get so many different sounds and I can cover
so many sonic landscapes.
So I'm going to show you this feature, the S1 switch, which is super [F#] cool.
So here is just bare bones right here, the guitar.
[C#m]
[N] So this is on my neck and middle pickup.
I've got it in the fourth position, [B] technically I think is what it's called.
So [A]
alright, so that's off.
Now I'm going to engage it.
[E] So you can hear that it's bitier, grittier and you just automatically get a little bit
of gain from the guitar and it's pushing things.
So one more time, it's still [G#] engaged, same pickup.
[F#] Going to turn it off.
When it's off it's going to be more your clean classic strat sound.
It's just so awesome that you can get so many sounds.
You still have that awesome strat sound but if you need to tweak your sonic palette you
can do that with this guitar.
So the next feature we're going to be talking about is the neck and a couple of really cool
things that go into the necks on these Elite guitars.
One is the compound profile neck.
[D#] So basically what that means is it goes from more of a C shape down here at the nut and
then it transitions its way up into a D shape the higher up the neck you go.
It's really comfortable down here when you're just cording through stuff.
And then up high on the neck is the contoured neck heel.
Basically what they're doing is just sort of rounding off that edge so that you're not fretting out.
It's easier.
For example, [A] you know when you're up here high on the [Dm] neck.
[Am] [N]
You can just reach really high quickly and you can just go more places that maybe you
can't go on other guitars because you're fighting with the heel itself.
So the next thing I want to talk to you about is the fingerboard.
So you got your radius in the front which is I like to call business in the front, party
in the back.
Okay?
Basically on this guitar you're going to have a little more curved radius down here on this
end for when you want to cord through stuff and you're just playing along.
That's going to help your fingers just sort of mold easily more naturally.
[A] Then as you're doing all your fancy gut bucket stuff up here at the top, [Em] [N] that's going to
help you get to where you need to go and it's going to flatten out.
Okay?
So it keeps you in business.
It don't get in the way of your business and it keeps it fun in the back.
Okay, so moving on.
We're going to talk about locking tuners.
Okay?
Whether you're a road dog or you're a beginner just getting into guitars, these are going
to make your life very easy and very simple.
This is simplifying what can be intimidating for a beginner which is restringing a guitar
which it was for me when I first started playing.
Basically you're not going to have to spend your life turning your tuning knob.
You're just going to get to string your guitar, put it in the locker, turn it tight and then
you're going to turn your knob about a quarter to a half turn and you should be in tune.
The pressure when you're playing, the pressure and release as you're bending strings, as
you're digging into things, as you're playing hard, you know, you're changing things, this
is going to respond and help keep everything sort of on an even keel so that you're not
wasting time tuning and you're spending more time playing.
And finally we come to the handy dandy truss rod wheel.
Okay?
So this is going to be for whenever you need to adjust your neck, okay?
Guitar is made for how you like to play.
There's no right or wrong how you like your guitar set up.
Basically you have all of the power here and you have the convenience, alright?
So whether it's underbow or overbow, all you have to do is adjust your neck, alright?
So that's really convenient, it's really handy and again it puts the power back in your hands
as a player.
