I grew up listening to [Bm] players that played B benders.
And a [G#m] B bender guitar, which isn't what I have here,
mine's [B] got a G.
B bender guitars have their own thing.
And you [E] heard them on everything from the Eagles
to Ricky Skaggs and Steve Warner and those guys.
It was really the most prominent bender.
And _ it's a higher string, so it's that sort _ of_
[B] _ _ _
_ _ [C#] _ _ _ _ [Dm] _ _
_ _ _ [N] _ But the G, I actually had Joe Glaser build me a G bender
a long time ago in the first guitar I got a G.
It's exactly like a steel guitar mechanism.
If you look at a steel guitar,
it's a bunch of saddles that look like this.
And they can hook up levers and pedals
and things to any of them.
And it'll move this a whole step.
_ [Em] And there's a little lever back here.
And when you pull [A] down,
[B] _ _ _ [A] _ _
[N] it raises this G string a [A] whole step.
_ _ And _ _ _ _
_ _ [D] _ _ _ _ [A] _ _
_ [E] _ _ _ _ _ [B] _ [E] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [Em] _ [D] _
_ _ [E] _ _ _ _ _ _
[A] _ [E] _ it's something you can kind of use when you get stuck.
The reason being that Jimmy Olander with Diamond Rio
had a double bender, and I liked the sound of the G string.
He had both where he could_ _ _ _
But the idea of _ that lower string
_ _ [B] _ _ _
[E] _ _ _ _ _ [G#m] _ [C#m] _ [D] _
_ [E] _ _ _ _ _ [G#] sounded a little more musical to me,
a little less twangy and a little more _ throaty,
like a steel guitar maybe.
And I loved what it does to like [A] the_ _

_ _ _ [D#] _ _ [Em] _ _ [D] _
_ [B] _ [Dm] _ _ _ [A] _ _ [Em] _
_ [D] _ [E] _ _ _ _ [D] _ _
[Em] _ _ [Cm] _ _ _ [A] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ What I find is, [G] and I do a lot of sort of bending without it _ _
[Dm] but _ _ [Em] _ [D] _ [A] _ _
[G] _ _ _ [A] _ it's got a different pedal steel sound to it.
So I can [D] go_
[F#m] _ [A] But if I _ go_
[E] There's a [D] little more of that _ _ [F#m] _ _ _ [G] as opposed to_
[D] _ _ [Em] _ _ [D] _ _ [C] _ [A] _ [Em] _ _ _ [D] _ [G] _ _
