You know, my first television film was made in 1965.
I shot it in 1964 in the mountains of North Carolina
at a time when there were dirt roads,
when Appalachia was considered Appalachia
and the rest of the country didn't know much about it at all
pre Beverly Hillbillies.
This film was made for 9,000 bucks, 90 minutes long,
full page review in TV Guide.
People saw it as very important.
I think it's pretty amazing some of the stuff
that I captured.
You're seeing two dance scenes.
The second one was done, just people pull back the rug
and did this kind of dancing.
And I was so thrilled by it,
I started to dance with the camera.
[G] And it kind of was the first time anybody had handheld
dance with a camera.
So this film was pretty famous.
The film was called Music Makers of the Blue Ridge
and there's some great old characters in it
whom are of course passed on now and have become legends.
And there's some great old characters in it

Thank
