[A] [Db] [E] [Db] [D] [Eb]
[A] When Jimmy first came in the [G] group, I know that [D] he was a guitar player, a [Abm] guitar [A] player.
[Ab] He [B] [A] wasn't [Bb] [E] someone coming [Gb] and learning on the [A] gig.
He came [Eb] [E] with well knowledge.
[A] He was very seasonal.
I had a silver tone guitar [G] that [D] he took the strings, he was left handed, [A] and he turned
them [D] over [A] and [E] did his thing with [G] them and then he [D] practiced, practiced, got [A] the songs [E] together.
And eventually he got a guitar.
[A] I was in two bands with him.
One [Bb] of them was first called Love [Gb] Lights.
[C] That was when [Bm] the other musicians [Am] was [E] with him [Am] [A] before Jimmy came.
And when [E] Jimmy came in, he first [C] was in, we [F] called the name was Love Lights.
Then [E] after Jimmy came in, [A] the other two guys left.
We picked up Dito and Jimmy and myself [Bm] and then eventually Lonnie came [D] in, Curtis.
[A] We were called the Squires then.
My [E] main club that we first got started [B] in was called [A] George's Club [E] 20.
That [A] was in Hackensack, New Jersey.
We did that as a house band.
[Bm]
Then we would come [E] over [Bm] through the week and play
[A] Lighthouse on 72nd Street.
[E] Then we would go and we would [A] do things in the village [E] called Trudy [Dbm] Heller's and then
[A] down later on we came into the Cheetah Club.
So Cheetah Club was one [D] of the famous [Gb] clubs that was in [Am] rock clubs that was [E] in the [A] New York area.
Jimmy was the show.
[G]
[E] You know we [Am] would always do [D] like backups [A] and singing and Curtis [E] would do [A] a lot of singing too.
But Jimmy was the [Am] show.
[A] [Bm] We would do instrumental [D] songs and then we [A] would at least [Am] what they would say, we would
turn him loose.
[N]
By the time we hit intermission time we had the old club [Ab] wanting to know who he [Abm] was and
[A] [Ab] what was his name [Eb] and what he was going to be playing [A] next.
We was [Bb] playing all the [Ab] rock songs [Am] that was in the top ten.
We was playing [Ab] Beatles songs, [Eb] [Gb] Rolling Stones songs and [Am] along with the [G] blues.
Jimmy's thing was play to the girls.
Look good, dress [F] good, [Em] play [B] to please the [C] ladies, the fellows will come.
[Gm] And [G] that was true because [Bb]
after [D] playing there off and on about [Bbm] a [C] month,
[G] we used to pack
the house in.
It was standing room [Am] only.
[G] [Dm] He [Am] used [G] his own [E]
dressing [C] style, his [Gm] own playing and [G] everything because [C] that's what he wanted.
[F] That's [Bm] why he [D] had left all the [E] other groups [G] because he wanted to do his [Ab] type of music.
[A] [Gm] He wanted to [G] be [F] a, [G] well like he said, he wanted to be a star.
[Bb] All about [C] music.
[G] Jimmy lived, [Eb] [B] breathed it.
The music was his [Bb] life.
