[Em] [Am] Wisteria, did you change your face again?
Those of us who loved you when, can't even [Bm] find.
[D] Hey
[Em] [Am]
[Gm] everybody, this is Bob with Acoustic Songs again.
And this lesson is going to be on Wisteria by Dan Fogelberg.
Kind of a finger picker's delight song here.
It's not a really great song if you're a strummer, but the chords are kind of cool.
So you [Ab] could possibly use these chords [N] either somewhere else in original tunes or whatever.
They're nice chords to know.
It starts off in what I call an A chord [Em] on the 5th.
[Am]
Now keep in mind, [Em] again I've said this on many of my videos, I use two fingers for an A.
So it [Ab] doesn't look like I'm playing an A, but I'm covering three [Am] strings with two fingers.
I do that, [N] number one, because I have fat fingers, but also it allows me to free [Ab] up my
Anytime you can free up a finger on a chord, it's kind of cool because you can use [G] that finger elsewhere on the fretboard.
So it's helped me a lot in playing throughout the years to use two [C] fingers for an A or [A] one finger [Em] for an E minor.
If I don't have to use two fingers, now I've got this index finger to [Bb] place elsewhere [N] and kind of do funny things with.
So getting back to the [Am] Wisteria, A chord on the 5th fret.
[Dbm] Next chord [A] is
I don't [E] think it has a name, so I'm just going to number it.
It's open, [A] open, 4, [C] 5, open, [B]
[Em] 4, [Am]
[Em] 5, open.
[Am]
[A] [Am]
Third chord, third different chord I should say, [Bm] is another strange chord.
And number [E]-wise it's going to be open, 2, [D] open, 2, 3, open, [E] open, [D] 2, open, 2, 3, [E] open.
[D]
[Bm] I take [D] that chord, I release my index finger, and bring it to the 2nd fret of the high E string.
[Ab] And [Bm] the [D]
[Am] 4th chord [E] [D]
is
[G]
[Gm] Again, number-wise, I don't think this chord has a name either.
[Em] It's [Ab] open, although I kind of mute [E] that string, but let's just say open, [C] 3, [D] open, [G] open,
[D] 3, 2.
[E] Open, [C] [D] 3, open, open, 3, 2.
The [G]
[A] [Am] beginning.
[Bm] [D]
[G]
[Am] [Em]
[Am] [A] [Am] Wisteria, did you change your face [E] again?
[Am]
[B] Those [Am] of us who loved you well [A] [Am] can't [Bm] even die.
[D]
[G]
Then it just does that again, of course.
[Am]
[E] And then when it gets into the chorus, [Gb] which I [E] can't sing.
I don't actually play this one a whole lot because I can't sing it.
It goes [Gb]
into an E minor.
[Em] Did you change your face again when you got to the [C] sad part?
C.
[Em] Did you stay a bit too long?
[C]
[Am]
Wisteria, of the man, [G] did [Am] you make him understand that he [Bm] can't tell?
[D] [E]
[D]
[Em] [Gb] [G]
[D] [Em]
[Eb] Anyway, it goes on from there.
It's pretty much the same the [Abm] rest of the whole song.
[A] So if you can get that part down, you can get the whole song down.
So, tough song, but let me know if you have any questions.
Send me a message.
Thanks.
