[G] [E] [D]
We [E] have a lot of things of Rick acting.
Unfortunately, I couldn't fit all those into an hour show and I tried to focus more on
Rick and his music because [N] in truth that's where Rick's [E] interest lay.
And I've also [A] felt that was Rick's major contribution was the [E] whole style and [Em] form
because of Rick and because of the television show and doing the song on the show [G] made it acceptable in the American [E] home.
I think it made my father [N] younger in a different sense when he had the Adventures of Ozzy and Harriet and he was directing and producing and he had a lot of kids around him.
When everyone else of 30 and above was saying this is evil music, he was enjoying it.
And he felt that it had a basic rhythm to it that was exciting and he enjoyed it himself.
And what he said I think it was on the Dinosaur Show that he said
We've often said that I think Elvis certainly was responsible for starting rock and roll and I think that Ricky was probably responsible for making it acceptable in people's home.
Yeah, nobody took exception.
You didn't get any adverse mail when you
We got, strangely enough, we got quite a few at the beginning, we got quite a few letters from people who said they never thought that a nice American family like ours would show anything as [E] low down as rock and roll.
I really loved to play rock and roll [Eb] and I love singing [N] and I love entertaining and the communication that's involved [F] with people.
And that whole thing kind of rejuvenates me.
I've never [Gm] known what [F] it is to be a dad, like a grown up.
I don't see myself growing up.
It really doesn't happen in what I'm doing.

On and round [F] and round,
[Bb] we'll change, change, change.
On and round and round, [F]
[C] we'll change my baby.
[Gm] [Ab] But [Bb] it never [F] will get
[N] One of the most charming moments of the special is an outtake from the Ozzie and Harriet show when Ricky is surprised during filming on his 14th birthday.
Hey, get out of that cookie jar.
I thought you were too busy to notice anything.
Happy birthday to [F] you.
Happy birthday [A] to you.
Happy birthday
David [Em] Nelson's video portrait of his [B] brother ends on a positive note.
The wreckage of the plane crash that [Bb] killed Rick Nelson is not shown, [G] nor a mention of the alleged freebasing that was said to be taking place in the aircraft.
[Bb] This is a loving tribute to a [Abm] brother and a [G] family.
It is [Db] David Nelson's vision.
After [G] all, you can't please everyone
So you've got to please yourself.
