So the Embers Glow and [D] The Color Black are kind of a one conjoined track and
[F#m] You know, we kind of touched based [C#] lightly on like sexual assault on our last [Bm] album
For this track.
I really wanted to specifically target [D] like just
domestic [F#m] violence like
specifically within a relationship [C#] I had a lot of people
[Bm] like Amber actually who
[D] Who were kind of brave enough to open up to me about [F#m] their stories with
you know, [C#] just being like physically abused by
[Bm] people that they loved people that they they trusted and
[F#m] You know, it's for me.
It's [A] really hard to imagine like another [F#m] human being
[C#] having like this fine to I don't know [Bm] put their hands on somebody that they supposedly
really care about and and really love and
[F#m] Yeah, there was there was a guy who actually I kind of [Bm] made like an open post on social media about
anybody like felt comfortable enough to [D] open up about their experience and
This this guy's an avid listener.
They see here [F#] kind of laid out
there's a very [Bm] like long extended story about his mother and his [F#m] stepfather that he had been living with and just
[C#] like the abuse that she faced the abuse that [Bm] him and his siblings faced and
There's a really [D] kind of powerful story.
And so, you know with [F#m] his story and just everybody else who had opened up to me
I I really [A] felt like it was kind of a powerful [C#] topic to try and
[Bm] Try and tackle kind of from like from like my perspective from their perspective
just about [F#m] how it's just such a it's such a dark [C#] thing to
Not to bruise somebody or to [Bm] leave them bloody
When you're supposed to be [F#] the one taking care of them
And I think I think with vultures too, it was like, you know, [F#m] obviously a very dark topic [C#] surrounding like sexual assault
But you know, [Bm] I found that I met so many people
That it seemed like that song might have [D] comforted them in some [F#] type of way
so my hopes with like the embers glow into the color black was that it could be a nice [Bm] safe ground for people who had a
experienced
