[G#]
[E] This is a song that I wrote, [C#] mainly about my grandfather,
[A] [E]
[F] it's kind of about how [E] I feel
[F] kind of [C#] isolated from him,
music on the other side of the Ohio River,
[G] [F#] [B]
not really having a chance to play and be [C#] who he was in the world.
[E] [B]
Part of it was inspired by the Viennese old barn up there,
which is where I'm [C#] standing right now.
[Bm] I sing where he [F] put his name on the barn [B] wall when he was a little kid, you know.
I have this [F] picture of him when he was about 12,
I [C#] [Gm] [A]
[E] got my mobile iPad, you [C#] see?
[D#] [B]
[C#]
[Bm] [Em]
[C#m]
[C#]
[F#]
[E]
I'm [C#] really lucky to have just come back [C#m] from [F] this festival,
Celtic Connections in Scotland, this is amazing.
And there's an incredible musician named [Bm] Malcolm O'Dodrick,
who's Irish heritage, has his dad,
and some of the people going from [D#] Kentucky to Ohio to work,
they were [B]
very, very similar [F] really,
because they felt isolated and they left behind these roots,
and they felt kind of foreign place,
where they [D#] were kind of looked down upon.
[F] And this song actually resonated with Michael.
[F#] [B]
[F] [B]
[F] [E]
[B] I [C#] laid on my back in a field and I looked into the [F] sky,
and I wondered, I said, what's one of those, and I thought,
[D] I should have never [B] did it.
[F] And that's the same place Michael plays,
as he's doing some of his solo [Em] examples.
[B] [E]

[E] [F] I could get more of this [B] in the mic, I think it would be great.

[B] [G#] [A]
I don't think [B] I'll ever [E]
be able to forget you
[C#m] [D#]
I went out [B] there [E] one night
The moon [C#] and the stars were [A] shining bright
The sun come up and [C#] the trees [E] come down
I tell you, I was born [C#m] again
Heart of an [B] island, [E] stranger's shore
The river [B] rising to [A] my door
I carry my own [B] to the field below
[E] I'm water, I don't know where [C#] to go

I called [A] my

[C#m]
[B] neighbor an old farm [E]
wall
But no [C#] one would know [B] I was there [A] at all
The stable was dry [B] on a wintery sky
They turned their head to see [C#] the light
I got caught [B] in an old [E]
boxcar
A [C#] rusty door and [A] a falling soil
And got a dime [F#] in my [E] ancient sack
I'm watered around [B] and I [C#m] can't get back

This time I'm going [B] and I'll be [E]
back
You [B] don't believe me, count [A] my stacks
The river's long [B] and the [E] river's wide
I'll meet you once on the other [C#] side
[C#m]
I'll never [B] forget
[E]
The world [B] still ain't got [A] me yet
Ain't nothing [B] but I'm bound to roll
I'm watered around and I [C#m] can't get home
