[D] Hey guys, today I'm going to show you how to play the new song by Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert.
It's called Drowns the Whiskey.
We're going to be playing this song [Ab] with the capo on the first fret and our chords are
going to be G, [Bbm] A minor, [Db] C.
We're also going to play the [Ab] C with the G note up here in the bass.
So I'm playing that with my third [Db] finger and I'm playing the fifth string with my fourth finger here.
So we've got that version [C] also.
And then [Eb] we have a D.
[Bbm] Did I say A minor already?
If I [F] didn't say that, we have that in.
[Ab] So those are the [Eb] chords.
We'll go ahead and zoom in and I'll show you what we're [Ab] doing here for the strumming pattern
and [N] show you how to play the verse and the chorus here.
So here we go.
Alright, so what we're doing here on the intro is just playing the [Ab] G chord.
I'm just playing the sixth and fifth strings.
[F] Then we're playing the C [Ab] chord with the G in the bass note.
[Db]
[Bbm] Then the A minor.
[Eb]
And then the D chord.
[Ab]
And I'm palm muting here a little bit.
So here's what the intro will sound like.
[Db]
[Bbm]
[Eb] [Ab]
Now if you don't want to do the picking here, [Fm] you can just strum the intro.
So the [Ab] strumming pattern is going to be down, down, [D] down, down, up.
So here's what that sounds like.
[Db]
[Bbm] [Eb]
[Ab]
So that's the intro.
The verse is going to start out the same way.
It's going to be G, [Bbm] C, A minor, D, [Eb] G, and then it's going to end [F] on the D.
So here's the [Ab] first verse for you.
[Db]
[Bbm] [Eb]
[Ab] [Eb]
[A] And we're ending on that D chord [Fm] before we go into the chorus.
The chorus is going to start on C.
So here's [Db] the chorus for you.
[Ab]
[Eb]
[Db] [Ab]
Okay, and that's going to be the same strumming pattern also.
So it's just down, down, down, down.
[Db]
[Bbm]
[Eb] [Ab]
Okay, and that's almost everything you need for [Fm] the song other than the lead part [Eb] and
[F] the bridge, which go A minor to [Bbm] D.
So I'll play the lead [D] part and the bridge for you
here [C] real quick.
The chords for those.
Same [Bbm] strumming pattern, A minor.
[Eb]
[Bbm] And the bridge
[Eb]
[Bb] ends on that D chord before [Db] going into the final chorus.
[Fm] So I'll go ahead and play through the intro, verse, and chorus for you one more time if
you still need a little bit of help with that.
