Dubkasm Dub Tips 01 - Aux Send Basics chords
Start Jamming...

So really, dub mixing is about a feeling.
It's about creating a collage and a soundscape by taking apart the existing arrangement of a track.
And the way you do that in dub is you're using the different channels of the mixing desks
to bring in and cut out different parts of the track and effect them using the auxiliary
sends.
So what I've got, I've got a reverb, spring reverb, tape delay, phaser and a pitch shifting
delay on four different auxiliary sends.
And as the track progresses, what you do is you're kind of carving away different parts
of it by bringing them in, bringing them out and then sending them using the auxes to the respective effects.
So what happens is the signal gets routed, like using a chop for it as an example.
I've got a piano chop here which is just a dry
[Gm]
[Cm] piano chop.
[N] Basically it's from an old M1 synthesizer, Korg [Gm] M1.
Now on aux one I've got my spring reverb.
[Cm] [Gm]
[Cm] Aux [Gm] two, I've got [Cm] my tape delay.
[Eb]
So [Db] what I did there is I used the mute to cut away, to carve away that [Abm] channel.
[Cm] [Gm]
[N] And this is all about real time tweaking.
So as the [Ab] track is playing, you're bringing parts in and out.
