People wanted to hear this recitation, so I wanted him to do it for us.
I know we've done one, but this is a good one here, and I hope you'll enjoy it.
It's in time of Jesus.
This is Jimmy.
And I hope you'll [Bb] listen to the Word, [D] and you'll find a [G] lodging place in your heart. _ _
_ [G] What will your [Bm] answer [C] be?
What will you say?
[D] When _ Jesus taken [G] you home. _ _
_ _ _ His name was Jimmy. _
[A] He wasn't very [C] old.
_ [G] About 10 or 11 years, this bird.
But you wouldn't call the life of Jimmy that, but I'm clear.
Now Jimmy lived in a big town, somewhere in the old part of the [A] nation.
His mom and dad [C] were persecuted.
[D] So this little fella had to sell newspapers _ to stay off [G] of our mission.
_ Because you see, mom and dad, they lived the nightlife.
Little Jimmy was just too much of a bother.
[C] _ But you know, I wonder _ [G] [D] how they're going to feel _ when they stand before my [G] head in the front.
Down the street by an old garden mission, _ little Jimmy was carrying his papers one [C] day.
And from inside he heard the preacher say,
[D] Come to the altar, _ and my Jesus [G] will give you a new life and a better way.
_ Now you see, little Jimmy, he had never been to church at his young, happy [C] moment.
He didn't know anything at all about the Lord.
[D] But there was one thing this little fella knew.
About [G] all of it was, he had been neglected.
_ And somehow he needed someone that he could talk to.
And outside, Jimmy's feet [C] was cold.
[E] There was a lot of [D] water in the room.
And he thought, well [G] inside it just might be safer.
So he went inside, _ and he laid his paper bag on the altar.
And the preacher went on to say,
You can take this Jesus [D] home with you, and he'll be your father and your [G] mother.
Yes, and he'll be your sister, and he'll be your brother.
Finally, when the last call was [C] given,
and the people began to make their way down to the [G] altar to meet [D] little Jimmy, _
finally little Jimmy stepped out.
[G] He walked down to the altar, and he laid his paper bag on the altar.
And he looked into the brother in water's eyes, and he [C] _ said,
_ Jesus, [D] _ this is Jimmy.
_ Jesus, [G]
this is Jimmy.
_ _ You know, I guess you might say it was held in a way.
This little fella knew how to pray.
[C] But you know, I believe in the middle friend that day.
For [D] every time they didn't come out of the mission carrying his papers,
he'd always walk [G] inside.
_ And he'd kneel down and say his same old humble prayer.
Jesus, this is Jimmy.
[C] _
[D] This went on for some time.
But [E] one day [D] again, they came rushing in with the little guy's permission.
The preacher [G] was having a counseling session.
Jimmy didn't realize he was disturbing anyone with his little [Em] humble prayer.
[G] But the preacher walked over to him and he looked down at him and said,
Boy, can't you see that we're busy?
[D] Why do you keep interrupting us like this?
[G] With that same simple, you know, usual prayer.
Jesus, this is Jimmy. _
Jimmy looked up at the preacher.
And he said, [C] Preacher, this is the only way that I [D] know how to pray.
And you know, somehow I just want the Lord to know my [G] name.
The preacher said, I can't help you, sir, but you'll have to stop at this place.
Now one more time, [D] little Jimmy was [C] pushed aside.
But he turned away [D] with tears in his eyes.
And he said, Somehow I know I can make it.
[G] It was a cold day.
Jimmy slipped on the curb.
And he was hit by a big truck on the road.
The preacher heard [C] the screaming of the folks.
He ran to the door and got a glimpse of [D] the scene.
Feeling badly for what he had just done.
He [G] rushed to the boy and took him in his arms.
And to the nearest hospital they flew.
The doctor was standing by.
The preacher looked [C] too.
[G]
And once [E] again the preacher heard [D] little Jimmy whisper from his ear,
Jesus, _ [G] this is Jimmy.
The doctor felt him close.
Then finally turned to the young preacher and he said,
[C] The young life you are soon to be on.
The preacher [D] then, panicking in his voice, cried,
My God, what can you do?
[G] Then all of a sudden,
_ _ The room was filled with darkness.
And all [C] of a sudden,
The room was filled _ [D] with darkness. _ _ _ _
_ [G] _ _ _ And the voice from heaven said,
_ Jimmy, this is Jesus.
Jimmy, this [D] is Jesus.
[E] So for those children [G] that forbid them not to come [E] unto me,
For as such is the [G] kingdom of heaven.
_ _ What will your answer [C] be?
What will you say?
[D] When _ Jesus [G] bed-times you? Oh.
_ _ _ _ _ Thank you, Jesus.
[E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ [G] _
