I was working in a nightclub one time.
It was a big statler hip motel and at the bottom of it,
[Eb] the entertainers would come there and [Gm] entertain.
I was in commercial [N] heat and coolant and I was
working on this air conditioning system.
So the entertainer had came in that day to practice his
night thing that he was going to do, the entertainer.
And me and a good friend, we were
Christians and I went up to him and I asked him, I said, [A] how about doing a [D] little bit of gospel
music on [G] that.
He [D] had stacked keyboards.
I mean, that guy was [Bm] a one man band.
[N] And I said, we're
Christians, nobody here but us.
We're working on the air conditioning for you.
And how about doing
a little Amazing Grace or something on there just for us?
[G] And he cut me off real short and he said,
I can't do [Dbm] that.
And I got [A] back there working on that thermostat.
I told my buddy, I said,
I wonder why a good musician like Ed couldn't play a simple [Ebm] song like Amazing Grace.
I'm going to go
see if there's any [Gm] reason he [C] wants to do that for me.
So I went back.
I said, see, the reason you
can't play a simple song like Amazing Grace for us, we're [B] Christians, [N] nobody here but us.
He said,
yes, it is.
So I used to be a Christian.
I back slid.
I couldn't make a living.
And if I play a
gospel song, you come back to Christ, you get under the convention, what am I going to do to make a
living?
So on the way home that night, God gave me a message.
I really prayed for that young man
that traded what I feel in my life right now.
Salvation, like we've got promises that God is
going to take care of us.
No matter what we do, God would have give him a song that would probably
touch the world and it'd probably be more income than it ever had serving the devil.
When God gave me this song, it's by his [Cm] grace that we stand.
Nothing [G] in us, [N] it's by his grace
that you're here today.
Nothing good in you, but his love and get full of him.
He gives you power
to stand.
He told Moses, when you can't go to stand and just stand and let him do the fight.
God will fight our battles if we live.
He'll let you fight them if you want to fight them.
But you're going to pray, then don't worry about it.
If [G] you're going to worry about it,
then don't pray.
[A]
So he gave me [G] this on the way home.
I hope it gives you power.
[Em] [C]

[G] [Em]
[A] [D] Go to
there's [G] so many that are falling.
Yeah, [C] they're falling.
[G] It'll be me.
So help me stand more.
[C] [G] Help me [C] stand by your grace [G] and the whole world in the face and [A] seeing you [D] work
[A] [D] wherever I go.
[G] And when the tempter comes around, Lord, [C] give me strength to [G] turn him down and help me stand more
the [C] way you stood [G] long ago.
[Am] [G]
All through the Bible, you had disciples [C] that were able, Lord, [G] to stand.
[Em] Though their spirit [A] sometimes [D] seemed low.
[G] And there were some more that were slain [C] because they
stood for [G] your name.
So help me stand more the way [C] they stood [G] long ago.
[C] Help me stand by your grace
and [G] the whole world in the face and [Em] preach your word [A] wherever [D] I go.
And [G] when the tempter comes around, [C] Lord, give me strength to [G] turn him down and help me stand more
the [C] way they stood.
[G]
Yeah, help me stand more the [C] way they stood.
