No way, I mean I don't I never accepted the fact that I was the best guitar player in the world
I always wanted to be the best guitar player, but that's an ideal and I accept it as an ideal
[C]
[Gm] In 1966 [Em] he left the Blues Breakers to team up [F] with bassist Jack [Gm] Bruce and drummer ginger baker and form an ambitious trio [C] cream
[G] John Mayall had finally been too [Em] purist for him.
How do you know abandoned the blues?
Well, it was a very quick step, wasn't it?
I mean from being with John Mayall, which was very very
very textbook blues
To going into it sort of jazz rock fusion band
I mean that was a bit of a that was jumping in the deep end pool
So my conscience had to be affected by it and [Bb] I thought it was gonna be a textbook blues band
I had no idea of really what was going on inside those guys and when we all got together then I found out
And I had to adapt [Ebm] and suddenly I started [Gm] learning I learned mainly from Jack
[F]
We invited Jack Bruce [C] and Clapton to reunite it was almost 20 years since they'd played [A] together

[D] I Finally
finally with a couple of guys it was crazy [C] as I was really and they were both fanatics about music and
We didn't give a damn about who [N] liked what we did or
Whether or not it was going to be successful or not.
We just had a great time playing with
But we were all just going in completely different directions half the time then we blend in and and get together
But I was very very happy there for a while
[E] Cream emerged as strange and new building their reputation during [Am] a long American tour
They [E] were acclaimed in San Francisco as the first of the super groups
we were up against people like the Jefferson airplane and Grateful Dead and
You know big brother and the holding company and they were struggling
They really were struggling they it didn't seem to me like any of them had ever listened to any of the proper records
You know, they'd all been kind of influenced by the Kingston trio or something
So we walked in there and just cleaned the place up
[Em] Every now and then where the film or you we get put on with BB King or Albert King was in there
And then it was okay.
I was on that
That's not overstep mark here
[E] Although
[D] [Em] [E]
this
[A] [E]
[Em] [A] [E]
meeting was planned the playing was completely [A] unrehearsed
They hadn't played these old cream songs since the band [Bm] split up and if the rustiness showed through so did a little bit [E] of the old understanding
[Em] [B] [E]
I
Did these long solos that each of you do how did they evolve was it by accident or
Design or because of the three of you are so strong that you had to be on your own some of the time
We simply couldn't stop playing
Hmm, I mean we none of us was the band leader.
So no one would say stop that.
All right enough
so if one of us took off and go and we just
Go off that direction
Right and see one another at [A] the other end
[D] [N]
[D] [Ab]
[D] [Ab]

Very
[Gm] [C] [Ab]
[Bbm] [D]
[N]
rarely did it work
Me very very rarely became see it very early on in the career of the band
that particular band
That became our trademark
In many occasions.
It was like a open warfare on stage and the audience may have thought that it was like, you know
The newest raga or something, you know
But it was really so on stage it was a comp competing and warring going on against each other
There's three music now and then I'm not gonna say all the time, but now and then you know, it got to that
