Chords for Fingerpicking: This will change your life!

I'd like to show you a basic finger picking pattern.
Correction, I'd like to show you THE basic finger picking pattern, the granddaddy of
the bomb, one that if you master will allow you to play hundreds of great [Em] songs and will
change your life.
And I mean that, it really changed my life, and it's simple to learn.
So how do we play this finger picking pattern?
Let me break it down into two parts, [E] the first part and the second part.

Let's see now, so again, the first [F#] part, right now I have my capo on the fourth fret, just
because that's where I feel comfortable singing the boxer.
And I'm playing the C chord at [C] the moment.
So, play the fifth string with [E] your thumb, then together the second and fourth strings
with your middle finger and your thumb, _ and with the index finger play the third string. _ _ _
_ _ Practice that for a while. _ _ _
Go on to the second part, playing the fifth string with your thumb, second string with
your middle finger, [G#] fourth string with your thumb, [Fm] and [E] the third string with your index finger.

_ _ _ Remember the first part, _ and the second part.
Put them together. _ _ _
_ _ After a while, try some other chords.

And try it out on a song.
