Start Jamming...
[Em] Today [A] we're going to try [F#m] to make a track like Internet Money.
Internet Money Records was founded by Danny [D] Snodgrass [Bm] Jr.,
better known by the name Taz Taylor,
[F#m] an American record [D] producer from Jacksonville, Florida.
[F#m] Taz dropped out of school in grade 7,
and his mom was diagnosed with cancer when he was 17.
[B] As Taz [F#m] started exploring new ways to make money,
he began doing graphic [Dm] design,
[Bm] but quickly switched lanes [F#m] and started producing beats in FL Studio
and selling them online.
Today, Internet Money's producer roster [Em] consists of 24 [F#m] different producers,
the most [Bm] prolific of which is Nick [D] Mira,
whose ambient melodic production style
is at least [G] somewhat responsible for [F#m] the success [G] of major artists like Juice WRLD.
[F#m] Nick pretty much produced all of Juice WRLD's breakout hits,
[Em] such as the [D] six-times [F#]-platinum Lucid Dreams
[Bm] and the double-platinum [F#] All Girls [D] Are the Same.
He's also worked with artists such [G] as Lil Skies,
[F#m] Lil Tecca, Post Malone, NBA Youngboy, and more.
[Bm] Nick Mira is, in my opinion, [Em] a young goat.
Let's get into the [A] cook-up.
[D] I opened up the L8 Custom Grand Piano in Keyscape,
and I'm just going to lay down a repetitive melody.
[Em] [A] [D]
[F#m] [E] Here's what it sounds like.
[G]
Here's a trick to make your melody sound a little less repetitive.
[C] Lay down a [Am] different [G] bass note every [A] so often.
It'll give the [G] melody a [Em] greater sense of movement.
[G]
[C] [G] Now we're [F#m] going to spice it up further by adding some higher octave notes.
[D] This is optional.
You don't have to do this, but I like to do [Bm] it for the sense of variation.
[A] [D]
[C] [G] [A]
[G] [Em] [G]
[C] Next I added [Cm] some EQ to cut the lows,
and I also added some [Gm] reverb to make the piano feel more spacious.
Here's what the melody sounds like [C] now.
[G] [A]
[G] [Em] [G]
[C] [G] [A]
[Cm] I opened up this custom preset from my Omnisphere bank,
and I just copy and pasted our melody.
I'm going to use this as a layer.
[G] [Am]
[G]
I also cut the lows on this.
I [A]
[G]
opened up this preset in Omnisphere,
and I made this counter-melody.
[G#] [D]
[G]
I laid down an open hat.
I made this hat pattern.
I added a clap.
[N] I laid down a perk.
I added another open hat.
I added another perk.
And yet another perk.
I made this kick pattern.
I laid down an 808.
Here's what the drums sound like all together.
[D]
Alright, now it's time to write some lyrics.
The best way to approach this is to not write any lyrics.
[A] Let me explain.
Pick a topic.
In [F#m] my case, I'm going to go with some sad, broken-hearted love stuff.
Once [D] you have a topic, just freestyle over the beat,
keeping the topic in mind.
You don't have to do [F#m] it all in one take.
For me, I'm just going to do a few lines at a time,
and delete them if they don't make any sense or just sound bad.
You don't have to be [D] clever here.
These [A] tracks are more about [D] capturing a vibe
than impressing nerds with your wordplay.
Note [C#m] that I'm not trying [A] to emulate any specific artist here.
I'm just trying to make something as generic as possible.
Alright, [C#m] let's make some [D] quick album art for the single.
I'm going to google some broken-heart images.
Load it up in Photoshop, do some editing,
[F#m] get some VHS overlays to help it go along with the whole
sad-boy [A] aesthetic we're going for here.
Alright, here's what I made.
[D] Good enough for me.
[Cm] I do plan on making another vocal mixing tutorial soon,
[Gm] probably once I get into my new place,
[G] because I feel like I know enough now to make a better video
[Cm] than the one I currently point people to on my channel,
but I'm not [Gm] going to get into that now.
On this one, I just did what I normally do,
but I used some autotune as well.
With all of that out of the way,
let's see what we've come up [C] with.

[A] [G] I swear to God, this bitch the devil.
[C] She [Em] took my heart and she [G] broke it to pieces.
You ain't no bitch, you a motherfucking human.
[Em] No fees, [G] right?
[A] I'm mixed that up for now.
I don't need [G]
no fees, right?
[A] I'm mixed that up for now.
I don't need no
