Why [Bb] do clinics?
Well, I have a [Gb] background of doing gigs and I have [F] a background of
teaching in guitar schools, which I really don't do so much anymore.
[B] Doing clinics [F] seems like a nice in-between.
[B] Honestly, [G] I enjoy doing clinics a lot
more [E] now than I did [Gb] 10 years ago because I think [F] people come to these clinics
that I do for slightly different reasons.
I sense that [E] the people in the
[Fm] audience are a little bit more informed [Em] about [E] where I'm coming from as [Eb] a
[F] feeling inclined to [Ab] ask are a little closer to the mark.
When I started doing
this [Em] I'd get more questions [A] about like, what's the best exercise so that I can
[F] be faster than everyone else on [Em] the internet?
And I would have to spend a lot
of [F] time trying to just calm people [E] down and say it's not actually [F]
ultimate
[E] fighting.
It kind of gets easier every year.
It feels like [Fm] even though it's
still an [F] audience full of people I've never met before, it feels like we know
each other a little more.

Everybody learns in a different way.
Everyone meets
[F] music in a different [G] way and those early [Gb] experiences I think shape [Em] the kind of
player that you [Bb] become.
I [A] started because I [G] grew up in a house [Ab] where [F] both of my
parents were [E] listening to music like [Eb] all the time.
They [E] really loved music.
[F]
They
[E] collected music [Bb] and I could see how [F] seriously they took it and [Em] how happy it
made them.
[Bb]
[A] And that's an important and [Eb] useful thing to learn when you're a
small person.
[G] [F] My dad, one of the worst musicians in many [E] ways.
He didn't really
know what he was doing.
He [F] didn't [E] know a great deal about playing guitar but he
was there when I needed an inspirational figure when I was very young and [Eb] it was
great to be that young and just see [F] someone holding a guitar [Gb] and making
music with it.
[Eb] In some ways that was the biggest single influence.

[Gb] That's my
[E] exciting news I [F] guess.
He approached me via Facebook [Bb] and said [Gb] I'm thinking about
taking all of my Hollywood [E] soundtracks out on the road.
Do you want to be a [Ab] part
of it?
[E] And [Gb] I'll spare [Eb] you the really long story.
I tried [F] to convince him that he
didn't [Eb] need any guitar [Em] because all the music sounds great with no [Ab] guitar.
[F] But
somehow we ended up going out on the road
[Gb] and we're doing it all again this
year [G]
which [F] is all very exciting.
[E] It's a big operation.
It's like six tour buses and
ten trucks and [F] you'll have maybe 80 people on the stage.
So it's the opposite
of the Aristocrats.
