Hey, in this lesson we're going to be looking at Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles.
This song has one of the most intricate chord patterns and chord styles in any Beatles song.
There's a lot of really cool licks in here, so let's just get right into it.
My name is Mike B, and this is Campfire Guitar.
[D] [E]
[D]
[G]
[E] [D]
[A]
[N] Alright, so let's take a good look at the intro to Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles.
So there's a lot of [D] really cool, a lot of really cool chording stuff here.
[B] This kind of opens up a lot of possibilities that you can do with [D] chords like the D [E] and
your A7, even your G.
[D] [G] So we're going to start off here, just a standard D chord [D] shape.
And this is [N] kind of like you're half strumming, half doing pick arpeggios.
So it's sort of a difficult feel to get at first.
Just remember, if you ever hit the wrong string when you're doing this, it's okay because
your left hand is in the [G] chord shape.
So as long as you [D] touch one of the strings [B] that you're [D] on, so like one of the top four
[Eb] strings, it's still going to make a right note.
It's still going to sound like music.
So with that being said, let's dive into this.
So we have, [G] we start off with a little [D] strum, and then you go up to your high E, and you
play just that high note, and then B, [E] open high E, [D] and then back to the D chord shape,
second fret, so that's one more time.
And then, so that's, so we go down, so really slowly that intro.
[A] And then we go to our [G] G chord here, and we're going to strum from high, or sorry, low E,
all the way up to the B string, and you want to use your second finger here, and you're
[E] also going to use your second finger just to lightly lay across the A string, [G] so that he's muted.
You go, [D]
[G] so that's, and then high E, [D] back to the B,
[G] and then after that you go to an A7,
you [A] go, so that's, [E]
[A] so we go, and then you take off your second finger, play the open
B string, put it back down, strum the chord, [D]
third fret of the B string, [Em]
open high E, [D] then
back to that third fret [A] note, so that's [A]
one more time.
[E]
So let's play what we have [D] so far.
[G] [D]
[A] [E]
Okay, and the next part starts off the [D] same, [B] and then we go to the G major [G] 7,
[G] so you're
simply just going to strum E string, D string, G string, and your second finger's got to
come all the way up here, second fret of the high E, and you're kind of doing a little
that kind of motion right there, so always jumping back to the root, open high E, third
fret, B string, so that's what we have [D] from the second part, and then you just land on [A] an A.
[Am] So let me play the whole thing one time through.
Three, [D] four.
[G] [D] [E]
[A]
[Eb] Remember, if you hit a wrong string at some point, it's totally alright, it's kind of
like one of the sounds of the guitar [Em] is when you're doing these pick [D]
arpeggios, sometimes
you're going to hit more than one string or something.
It just kind of sounds cool that way.
[G]
So with a song like this, I'd really encourage you to have [E] the left hand completely correct,
with the right hand, you want to get it as close to exact as possible, but don't worry
too much [D] about it.
If you're just, you know, if you're strumming [D] more than one string, that's totally okay.
Hey, I hope you got something out of today's lesson and got your fingers moving on something
new and something cool that helped you with your guitar playing.
