Hey guys, it's Karl Brown from _ GuitarLessons365.com.
Today we're going to learn how to play the solo for Here I Go Again by White Snake.
Short but sweet.
It's got some cool licks in it, some fast licks, and some real nice melodic playing as well.
So let's start here.
We're still in standard tuning like in the chord video.
Hopefully you've watched that one.
And the first phrase.
[A] _
_ _ [A] _ _ _ [Cm] _ _ _
_ _ _ [C] All right, so that's _
[D] _ [B] 4, 5, 7 on the G.
[C] _ _ [D]
Then slide [G] 5 to 7 on the [A] D. _ _
Some [C] vibrato there.
_ [G] _ _ _ _ [G]
Then a whole step bend at the 8th fret on the B string. _
_ _ _ [F#] Release.
[C] _ _
Then play 8, 7, 8 over to 5 on the G. _
_ _ _ [G] _ _ [A] _ _ [D] _
_ _ [C] _ _ _ _ [E] Next phrase.
_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ _ [D] All right, so we're going to slide from 7 to 9 on the G.
[E] _ Then 7, [F#] play 7 on the B.
8, 10.
All _ _ _ right, and then replace your pinky there for the 10th fret there now with your third
finger [B] and pick it 5 to the 12.
Then pick it again, pull off to 10, [D] _
over to 12 on [Cm] the G, and [E] back to 10 on the B. _ _
_ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [D] All right, and now we have a little arpeggio across strings, a little D major.
_ _ [E] So I'm heavily palm muting that so you can just make the notes pop out.
So that's 10th fret on the low E.
_ _ Then 12 on the A, roll over to 12 on the D.
[D] _ Then 11 on the G [F#] to 10 on the B.
[D] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [G] Then a whole step bend at the 12th fret on the G.
_ _ _ _ _ Release that and pick that a couple times.
Next phrase.
[A] _ _ _ _
_ _ [D#] _ All [F#] right, so that's some bends there to 17th on the [A] high E.
_ _ _ So 15, back to 17, to 15 on the B. _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [C] All right, and now we have that [E] fast lick.
It sounds like this. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [N] _ _ All right, so there's a pattern to this.
So it sounds a lot more difficult than it is.
Now before we actually get to the pattern, there's two notes that start it.
So the two notes that start it are 8 and 10 on the low E.
[E] _ All right, so those are just out of nowhere, just down and up.
And now we have a pattern that starts, which the first one is this.
_ _ All right, so what that is is 12 on the straight altered picking,
start with the downstroke, 12 on the low E to 10, back to 12.
_ [Em] _ _
Palm muted, by the way.
[G#] And then to 9th fret, _ _
[F#m] _ 9, 10, 12 on the A.
So we have this.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [A] _
So what I mean that this is [G] a pattern is _ [E] those exact same two,
basically three notes here, _ _ descending [Em] back up.
And then [E] playing three notes on the next string.
That's the pattern.
So down, up, down, up, down, up.
[F] And now we're going to do that exact same pattern,
except we're going to do it, we're going to move up to the 14th fret on the [B] A.
So the first three notes that are on the first string are going to be 14, 12, [G] 14.
And the three notes on the [D]
next string up are going to be 10, [E] 12, _ and 14.
[Am] _ So you see how it's [F#] different fingers, I mean [Am] different notes, but the same pattern.
And [A] _ then _ _ _ we'll continue it one more, move that now up,
you're at the 14th fret with your little finger on the [F#] D string,
move it up to the 16th fret, _ _ [B] and it's exactly like _ _
[E] _ _ you did before,
same fingerings and everything. _
[C#] _ 16, 14, [E] 16 to 12, 14, [Em] 16 on the G.
_ So you can see, [B] _ _
then _ [F#] _ _ all together. _
_ _ _ [A] _ _ All right, so starting with those first two notes.
_ [E] _ _ _ _ _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[F#] All right, now when you get to the B string,
you're going to start to _ kind _ [G] of do a very staccato and slowing it down.
[D] And those six notes, or really seven notes at the end, _ _
_ _ 13, 15, 17 on the B. _
_ As soon as you pick it, lift off the pressure in the finger. _
[E] Then 14, 15, 17 on the high E. _ _
Then move it up to the 17th fret, [Em] I mean, sorry, the 19th fret and let it ring.
[D] _ _ [A] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [D#] _ _ _ _ _
_ All right, so it's a nice solo, got some nice techniques in it,
and you really get to see how you can take one pattern,
take it across strings, and it makes for a really cool lick
and really dramatic sounding, but in reality,
your mind can just think of it as one thing that's just repeated across strings.
Makes it a lot easier to understand and get it underneath your fingers.
All right, I hope you enjoyed it.

So down, up, down, up, down, up.
[F] And now we're going to do that exact same pattern,
except we're going to do it, we're going to move up to the 14th fret on the [B] A.
So the first three notes that are on the first string are going to be 14, 12, [G] 14.
