Some things in life are just as good if not better when they're faked
Fire drills, moon landings, Ian's Korean made PRS.
Dude!
Also the blues
So especially if you're a blues poser like myself
It's good to know a couple of things to do to kind of act like you know what you're doing
So we're gonna go after kind of like a shuffle thing shuffle thing gonna play it real quick
And then we're gonna show you what's going on.
All right So, one
[D] [E]
[A]
[D] [Em]
[A] [Bm]
[A] [E]
[B] [D]
[E] Thank you, so first of all we're gonna talk about what I'm doing
So I'm just kind of playing the rhythm and it's just a basic blues shuffle
So if you don't know where it's a 12 bar blues thing, so I'm gonna go through a lightning quick speed, right?
So this is gonna be the one chord E.
This is gonna be blues in [D] E
[E] It's playing [B] power chord open E to A.
[Am] I'm kind of [E] muting it with my pinky hand, right?
[Em] I'm [E] putting my ring finger down to the fourth fret so it's still open E to [Dbm] open E four [D] [E] then five and back
So two four five four
[D] All right, so just run [E] that through that
Four bars [A] then down a string.
This is the a part the exact same thing
But just down a string them [E] back up
Now we're gonna go to the five [Bm] chord, which is a B which is to a right?
[A] a
[E] That's the whole thing and then the rest of it we're gonna go to Ian he's gonna take it away awesome
Yeah, so you tell us what you're doing there.
Okay.
Well [B] as we know this is about faking the blues.
So here we go
Sean provide the shuffle and I'm gonna show you how to enhance that with some fakery but yet some knowledge
so in the blues, we have our
Chords that we need to know and if you're gonna be playing full chords
We need playing e7 or sevens seven circuits seven chords are quintessential for the blues
So really quickly we got to learn a lot of B sevens, but don't worry.
It's easy
So we're gonna learn four of them right now
Okay, first one is the regular e7 which is second for the a string and first fret of [E] the G string
Okay, so that's very important now a second legitimate voicing really is [D] putting your pinky on the third fret of the D string as [E] well
So you have this one or this one?
These are two different e7
Now if you want to find the next one you take your pinky [Bb] right where it is and put your first finger where your pinky
Was third fret of the B string?
You're [Ab] gonna put your middle finger on the fourth for the G and your ring finger on the fourth fret of the high E.
This
Is an e7 just a different voicing.
Okay, [E] so we have one e7
[D] 7
7 probably our notice is a d7.
Yes, but [Gm] just
[E] Boom done, then that's exactly it
And so now the last e7 which is one of my favorites is your first finger goes to the D string the ninth fret D
D B ninth fret middle finger or ring finger depending on what's comfortable 10th for the high E
So we have four e7 chords
three [A] and four and now Sean and I are actually just gonna [G] play the
Play the e part of the chart and the key is you can play any of these chords at any time mix and match and it
Gives you illusion [B] of an [D] actual blues melody hit it one two ready [E] go
Perfect.
All right.
So the a part a sevens Okay
So we [A] have the normal a seven open [Em] a second for the D open G second fret of the beat and now another a seven
Which is very close by your first finger [A] is barring D G [Bb] B and E on
Sorry D G B on the second fret and your middle fingers [A] third fret very very similar to the e7 plate up here
So we have one a seven [E] to a seven and then we're gonna take that d7 shape
We did and we move it all the way up to [Em] the let's see the ninth fret with that ring finger
So it's nine eight nine nine eight nine.
That's an a seven
[A] so you have one and
Three and now just so we can [D] do it quickly the b7 is actually I'm not gonna show you two of them
They're easy.
Remember if you have an a seven [A] here [Bb] B seven
[B] two frets up and
[Bb] Here's your a seven that just did nine eight nine and two frets up
[Gbm] So it's 11 [N] 10 11
So now the best part about this mix and match have fun to follow 12 bar blues
And it's gonna sound amazing the more you mix and match the more you do
It's never gonna sound the same any time
But it's gonna sound like you know what you're doing and this is the key to the blues and by the way people on stage
Do this all the time all the time all the time.
So now Sean I'm not gonna play
Let's do it super slow for a while just to kind of insert some of those voicings before we do it.
Sure
Okay, yeah, right so let's just in fact, we'll just start by going back and forth between E and A right
So we're not even doing 12 bars.
It's gonna be like maybe [G] a few times a B a few times a B
Yeah, and then you can just jump into it and call out what you're doing.
I'll call the courts
Okay, so I'm gonna call it like okay
Great.
All right, this looks like one two three
[E]
Here's my d7 shape
[Em] [E] Here's the ninth fret
back to that Hey
[A] Here's one shape
And then the closed shape of second fret
Back to [E] eat and I'm gonna use the e7 shape here with just my piggy
And also another thing you can do is you can kind of pick these chords a little bit
Yeah, it's kind of like arpeggiate.
Oh, yeah, I want to try doing some of those with with the e part.
Okay, here we go
Just like
[Em] [E]
[Em] that, [Bbm] yep
So again play them however you want don't worry more because honestly
This is a one chord and to be honest
The one is a one one is [F] one is a one is a one and the four is a four
That's right.
And if I was five so you can do this all over the guitar neck for the entire progression.
Absolutely
Yes, so we're [Bb] gonna do it full speed.
Yeah, yeah right now.
Yeah, it's all maybe like two [Em] times around two times around
All right, let's do it and just watch for me mixing and matching and just do the same thing at [B] home
Load up an e of blues backing track do it to it.
[N] Here we go.
All right
[E]
[A] [E]
[A]
[E]
[D] [A]
[D] [E]
[D] [A]
[B]
[A] [E] [A] [A]
[E] [A] [E]
There you go [G] just chord voicings moved around that's [B] it that's it don't really need to know how the fretboard connects in a complicated way
Yeah, and when you've seen this multiple times on stage and this is what they're doing and you paid for it
[Abm] But now you're getting it for free for [Bm] free and you get more stuff like this on Ian's channel
Oh link you to you.
Yeah, the stitch method stitch method guitar.
I really [E] appreciate it Sean
Hey happy happy to have you buddy anytime amazing.

[E] Thank you, so first of all we're gonna talk about what I'm doing

This is gonna be blues in [D] E
[E] It's playing [B] power chord open E to A.
[Am] I'm kind of [E] muting it with my pinky hand, right?
[Em] _ I'm [E] putting my ring finger down to the fourth fret so it's still open E to [Dbm] open E four [D] [E] then five and back
So two four five four _ _ _ _ _
_ [D] All right, so just run [E] that through that
Four bars [A] then down a string.
This is the a part the exact same thing
But just down a string them [E] back up _ _
_ _ _ Now we're gonna go to the five [Bm] chord, which is a B which is to a right?
_ _ _ [A] a _
_ _ [E] _ _ _ _ That's _ _ the whole thing and then the rest of it we're gonna go to Ian he's gonna take it away awesome
Yeah, so you tell us what you're doing there.
Okay.
Well [B] as we know this is about faking the blues.
So here we go
Sean provide the shuffle and I'm gonna show you how to enhance that with some fakery but yet some knowledge
so in the blues, we have our

Okay, so that's very important now a second legitimate voicing really is [D] putting your pinky on the third fret of the D string as [E] well
So you have this one or this one?
These are two different e7
Now if you want to find the next one you take your pinky [Bb] right where it is and put your first finger where your pinky
Was third fret of the B string?
You're [Ab] gonna put your middle finger on the fourth for the G and your ring finger on the fourth fret of the high E.
This
_ _ Is an e7 just a different voicing.
Okay, [E] so we have one e7 _ _
[D] _ 7
7 probably our notice is a d7.
Yes, but [Gm] just
_ [E] Boom done, then that's exactly it
And so now the last e7 which is one of my favorites is your first finger goes to the D string the ninth fret D
D B ninth fret middle finger or ring finger depending on what's comfortable 10th for the high E
So we have four e7 chords
three [A] and four and now Sean and I are actually just gonna [G] play the
Play the e part of the chart and the key is you can play any of these chords at any time mix and match and it
Gives you illusion [B] of an [D] actual blues melody hit it one two ready [E] go
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
Perfect.
[A] so you have one _ and
Three and now just so we can [D] do it quickly the b7 is actually I'm not gonna show you two of them
They're easy.
Remember if you have an a seven [A] here [Bb] B seven
[B] two frets up and
[Bb] Here's your a seven that just did nine eight nine and two frets up
[Gbm] _ So it's 11 [N] 10 11
Great.
All right, this looks like one two three
_ [E] _ _ _
Here's _ _ my d7 shape _
[Em] _ [E] Here's the ninth fret
back to that _ _ Hey
[A] _ Here's one shape
_ And then the closed shape of second fret _
Back to [E] eat and I'm gonna use the e7 shape here with just my piggy
_ And _ also another thing you can do is you can kind of pick these chords a little bit
Yeah, it's kind of like arpeggiate.
Oh, yeah, I want to try doing some of those with with the e part.
Okay, here we go _ _
Just _ _ _ like _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [Em] _ [E] _ _ _
_ _ _ [Em] _ that, [Bbm] yep
All right _ _
_ [E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [A] _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [E] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [D] _ _ _ _ _ [A] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[D] _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [D] _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [B] _ _ _ _
[A] _ _ _ _ [E] _ [A] _ _ [A] _
[E] _ _ [A] _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
There you go [G] just chord voicings moved around that's [B] it that's it don't really need to know how the fretboard connects in a complicated way
Yeah, and when you've seen this multiple times on stage and this is what they're doing and you paid for it
[Abm] But now you're getting it for free for [Bm] free and you get more stuff like this on Ian's channel
Oh link you to you.
Yeah, the stitch method stitch method guitar.
I really [E] appreciate it Sean
Hey happy happy to have you buddy anytime amazing.
