[F] [Cm] Hey, what's happening HD Piano fans?
[F] Jeff [D#] here.
In today's lesson, we're going to be [Cm] learning the beginning [F] of [D#] Goner by Twenty One Pilots.
[Cm] This is [F#m] my first time teaching a Twenty One Pilots lesson for HD Piano and I'm pretty excited.
This is a nice tune with a really great piano part.
In our part one, it's going to sound like this.
[E] [D] [A]
[F#m] [E] [D]
[A] And that's it.
And that just repeats a bunch.
It's a simple yet really effective piano part.
So let's dive right in with the right hand.
So our right hand actually starts on a pickup.
This song is in 3-4, which means there's three quarter notes in every measure.
And we start on beat three.
So it's going to be one, two, [F#m] three, E, and [G#] a one.
[A] Okay, so let's go over those notes.
Here's A [C#] and C sharp, right above middle C.
[A] So it's three, E, [C#] and a.
And then on beat [G] one, we're going to [G#] play G sharp.
We're going to hold that for two beats.
One, two.
And [Fm] then we're going to [F#] play F [A] sharp to A two times.
[F#m] [A] So it's going to be three, E, [C#] and [G#] a one, two, [F#m] three, E, and [E] a one, two.
We're going to go down to an E there for that last note.
[A] So again, our notes are A, C sharp, A, [C#] C sharp, [G#] G sharp, [F#]
F [F#m] sharp, A, F sharp, [E] A, E.
And that's it for the right hand.
So that's going to sound like this.
One, two, [A] three, E, and [G#] a one, two, [F#m] three, E, and [E] a one, two.
And then on the third beat of this measure, we're going to repeat our pickup.
[A] Three, E, [G#] and a one, two, [F#m]
three, E, and [E] a one, two.
[A] So do that for a while.
[G#] [F#m] Two, three, E, and [E] a one, two, until it gets really comfortable.
And then we're going to add the left hand.
So take a sec, pause, make sure you got [F#] that right hand down.
Meet me back here for the left hand.
So the left hand is going to start on F sharp.
[E] It's going to go down to an E, [D] down to an A, excuse me, down to a D, [A] and then up to an A.
[F#] So we have F sharp, [E] E, [D] D,
[A] and A.
And here's how it's going to work with the right hand.
[F#m]
[E] Okay, [A] so during this part, [F#m] that's where we're going to play our F sharp.
Makes an F sharp minor chord.
[E] And then when we go down to this G sharp, we're playing an E in the bass,
suggesting an E major chord.
[F#m] For [D] that, we're going to play a D in the bass, which makes a D chord.
And then we're going to resolve [A] to an A in the left hand while we play the E in the right hand.
So really slow that goes.
[F#m] Three, E, and [E] a one, two, [D] three, E, [A] and a two, [F#m] [E] [D]
[A] two.
And that's it.
So you're going to play that riff two times for the instrumental intro,
and then you're going to play it eight times for the verse.
At the very end of the verse, right?
Or excuse me, for the part one, we'll call it.
It's not really a verse.
So you'll play it eight times for that part one.
On the eighth time, here's what it's going to sound like.
[F#m] [E]
[D] [A] Two.
So for the very last beat, we're not going to do our pickup.
We're going to play a different chord.
We're going to play an A over C sharp chord.
So that chord in [Em] the right hand [A] is an E, A, C sharp.
And in the left hand, it's a C sharp.
So that's going to happen on the very last time before you get into part two,
which is what I'm going to teach you in the next lesson.
So before we finish up, let's try our progression two times through.
On the second time, we'll go to the [F#m] final ending.
Here we go.
Start with the pickup.
One, two, [E]
[D] [A] two, [F#m]
three.
[E] [D] [A]
[D]
And that right there, that D chord is the first chord of part two,
which we're going to get to [D#] in the next lesson, which
