How to Play Joni Mitchell's "A Case of You" on the Dulcimer, Part 2 chords

[Bb]
Hello.
I'm not wearing a hat this time, but who cares?
Look, here's the same
dulcimer I used three years ago in 2007 when I made the instructional video, and
I'm sitting in the same room, in fact, up here.
So I wanted to clear up a couple of
issues that people had raised.
One thing you might want to know, not all dulcimers
are created equal.
Some have an extra fret, [Ebm] I think right [E] here or here.
I forget
where, but we'll find out in the course of this.
Okay, you and I will both
discover it.
But it may be that the difference in numbers of frets accounts
for some of the problems people have had understanding my instructions.
One
other issue, and I'll take care of that one right now.
Yeah, I know.
I gave [D] you
instructions last time to play this [G] [Bm] right here, reversing doing [Db] that.
It's a
very cool [E] chord, but Joni didn't do that, I don't think, and even I don't do that
anymore.
It's more complicated [Bb] than it needs to be.
Watch.
[Em] I go up to here, right,
[Bm] [Am] and then I just move [Bb] my index finger up to [A] that note on [B] the middle string,
and then jump back to this.
Let me show you that.
Here, can you see it?
[A] Jump up,
index finger.
I don't play all three strings, I only [Bm] play the first two.
[Bb] It's just more fluid.
Okay, let's look at the fret problem.
Take a look at my
dulcimer and make sure that we have the same number of frets.
Let's get it so
you can see the frets clearly.
There we go.
Okay, I'm gonna hold it this way.
Freeze the frame so you have time.
Then hold up your dulcimer, count the frets,
see if we're the same.
Okay, hi, I presume you did that.
If there's a difference,
I'll show you why.
Some dulcimers have an extra fret so that you can play the
major seventh on any string, starting down here.
[C] Watch.
[D] [C] Notice that's the [Bb] minor
seventh.
But supposing you wanted the major scale, the normal scale, right?
Well,
you'd have to play it on the second string, the middle string, starting at
this third fret.
See?
Now I can play a [A] major scale.
[Bb] Down here, it's this minor.
[Eb] So, that's very
cool.
Well, some people have an extra fret put in here so that they can play that
T [Bb] on this string right there, where it doesn't otherwise exist.
It doesn't exist
on this dulcimer.
That might be the difference in the numbering of the
frets from yours to mine.
And I [C] hope you figured that one out when you notice
that [Bb] there's not the same number of frets.
Now, if you did look at my dulcimer
and the fretting is just the same as yours and you're still having troubles,
