HOW TO PLAY LOW RIDER BY WAR - GUITAR LESSON - FULL SONG - CHORDS - SOLOS chords
Start Jamming...
This is Low Rider by War.
We're going to start things out with the bass line.
I'm in standard tuning, so if you tune up to a guitar tuner, you should be right.
Alright, this whole thing starts on the first fret, sixth string.
Then we use our third finger on the third fret, also sixth string.
Then first finger, first [Bb] fret, fifth string.
[B] Then third finger, third [C] fret, same string.
[Ab] Then we slide [D] it up here to fifth.
[N] And then first finger, [F] third fret.
[N] So we have
[Bb] [C] [E]
[F] [E] [Bb]
[C] [F] And from there we go, [Gm] which is [F] fourth string, [G] three, five, three, five.
[F] [Gm]
[Bb] [C] [D] [F]
[Bb] [C]
[D] [F] [G] [Bb]
[C] [F] [G]
[C] [F] [G]
[Em] So there's our bass line.
Let's move on to the next part [A] of the song.
This is the melody for Low Rider.
I'm going to play
So this whole thing starts on the fourth [B] fret on the third string.
And we do five of those.
From there we move our second finger to [C] the fifth fret.
[Ab] One of those, and then [Eb] pinky to [Bb] the seventh.
So [B] we have
[C] [D] [B]
[C] [D] [G] After that, we have second finger, fifth fret, fourth string.
To first finger, fourth [B] fret, third string.
To [C] fifth, same string.
[B] Back to fourth.
And then [G] back to fifth on fourth string, second finger.
So we [C] have
[B] [G] [C]
[B] [G] So the whole thing [B] looks like this.
[C] [D] [G] [C] [B] [G]
[B] [C] [D]
[G] [C] [B] [G] [N]
From there we have this.
[F]
[G] Which [Am] is first finger, third fret, [F] five times.
[E] And then another [F] five times.
[E] [Fm] Then [G] three, five.
[E]
[F]
[G] [Am] So [B] when we put it all together we get this.
[C] [D] [G] [C]
[B] [G] [E] [B]
[C] [D] [G] [C] [B] [G]
[F]
[G] [Am]
[N] And there is our melody.
This is the lead guitar for Low Rider.
You get the idea.
It's the same thing over and over.
Kind of like the bass line.
Our notes are [D] this.
[F] [G] [A] [Bb]
[D] [F] [G] [Bb]
[C] And what I'm [E] doing here is first finger, third fret, sixth string.
[Gm]
Pinky, sixth fret.
[E] To third finger, [D] fifth fret, [Gm] fifth string.
To first finger, [F] third fret, fourth [G] string.
Third finger, fifth fret, [E] fourth string.
And then first finger, [Bb] third fret, third string.
[D] [F] [G] [E]
[F]
[G] [E] [Bb] [A]
[G] [Eb] [D] [F] [Em]
[Bb] [Gm] [Bb] [D] [F]
[G] [A] [Bb]
[Eb] So there we go.
There's our lead guitar.
Let's move along to the next part of the [E] lesson.
[Abm]
Okay, these are some chords you can play along with the song in Low Rider.
If you wanted to [N] sing it and play it at the same time, do kind of a solo arrangement.
You don't actually hear them in the recording, but I put this part of the lesson together
so you can get some extra practice playing some bar chords and stuff like that along with the song.
I'll play it along so you can see what my hands are doing.
And then we'll go over it chord by chord.
Okay, so what I'm doing here is I start things on a G7.
[G]
And [Abm] the way I form that is I use my first finger across the third fret on all the strings.
Second finger on fourth fret, third string.
And third finger on fifth [Gm] fret of the fifth string.
[G] So it looks like that.
Next we [C] have a C, [Gb] which is first finger, third fret, fifth string.
And third finger across the fifth [C] fret on the fourth, [E] third, and second strings.
This one's kind of hyper [C]-extended here.
[Em] So we have, and you want to keep these short when you play them, like,
[C] kind of like that.
Use your [Am] left hand to [F] bounce off the [G] strings a little bit.
[C] [Dm]
[N] And then we have D minor 7 after that.
[Dm]
And what we're doing here is first finger, [E] fifth fret, fifth string.
[Am] Third finger, seventh fret, fourth string.
First finger [F] barring fifth here, and second finger on the [Gm] sixth fret of second string.
[F]
[G] So, so far we have this.
[F] [Bb] And then lastly, a [Abm] Bb chord, which is the same chord we used [C] here on C, [E] except moved down [Bb] two frets.
[E] That would be first finger, first fret, fifth string, and third barring the [Bb] third fret on the fourth, third, and second strings.
[N] And when you play this, you want to keep them short.
[E]
[Bm] [C] [Dm] [Bb]
[G] [C] [F] [Bb]
[G] [C] [F] [Bb]
[G] [C] [F] [Bb]
[G] So there's a few chords you can use to play along with the song if you want.
Like I said, they're not in the recording, but [Ab] it sounds good when you jam them along with the tune.
It will give you a little extra [Gm] practice.
