Yo, what's up y'all?
It's your boy DJ Shotta P at DJShottaP.com and TheProducersPlug.com
[G] back again with a [Gm] brand new tutorial episode.
I know I've been having y'all waiting on these
episodes, I'm sorry, but I got a lot on my plate right now.
I'm going to try to do my
best and stay consistent with these because I know y'all be waiting on these, y'all be
asking about these all the time, so I got y'all.
But today's tutorial episode is just
[E] Trap Chord Progressions [Gm] for Beginners.
Basically, this is just a cheat code for everybody that just
wants to play keys.
I also got another cheat [Cm] code video for y'all on how to do chord progressions.
I'm going to have it linked up on the top somewhere, so you can check that out as well.
But real quick, I ain't going to do too much talking.
I'm just going to go straight into
the tutorial video and I hope y'all enjoy this.
All right, so we're back again.
Like I said,
this tutorial video [G] is [Gm] Trap Chord Progressions for Beginners.
I'm not going to go over keys
and scales because there's literally thousands of videos online about learning keys and scales,
and you can just look that up real quick.
I'm [Eb] sure somebody else could explain that a lot [G] better
than I could.
[Gm] But unless you just want me to do a video on keys and scales, just let me know in
the comments below and I'll do that for y'all.
But let's go ahead and get straight into it.
All right, so the scale that most trap beats are in is the [G] minor scale.
[Gm] So we're going to start
[E] off with probably the [C] easiest minor scale, which is the C minor scale.
And that's this right here.
[Cm] That's the C minor scale.
All right, so we're going to do the most basic minor chord that we
can do, which like I said, is the C minor.
We're going to start with that and then all we're going
to do is just take that fifth up here [Ab] and then bring it up a note.
[Cm] It was fucked up a little bit.
[Ab]
Like I said, we're just bringing that fifth note up a little bit, that fifth one.
[Ab]
[Cm] All right, now
what I do is I play the same down here on the bottom, but usually what I do is take [Eb] that third
out, which is the third note in the C minor scale.
So that's all I really do right there.
And then like I said, I play the same [C]
down here that I'll play up here, except I just [Eb] don't
[Cm] press the third.
So I'll do it like this.
[Ab] [Cm] [Ab] [Cm]
That's all I really do with that chord progression.
Unless I really want to get funky with it, I'll go up [E] to this seventh up here,
which is like I said, [F]
[Bb] that's the seventh note in the C minor scale.
So I'll just do [Cm] it like this.
[Ab] [Cm]
[Bb] See, most of the time I won't do that because it [Ab] just doesn't sound good.
So I'll just keep it
right there and [Cm] I'll just play it.
[Ab] [Eb] I'll just play that seventh note on [Cm] the top chord right here.
So
that's really it with the first trap chord progression, but I'm about to go ahead and
show y'all another one real quick.
All right, now so we're on to the next chord progression.
It's pretty much the same thing, except this time I'm taking these two notes down
[Bm] and I'm dropping them down a half step.
[Cm]
[Cm] So like last time, I'm going to be doing the same thing
on the bottom, except I'm not going to be playing that third.
[G] [Cm]
[G] [Cm]
[D] And that's basically it with the
second one.
You can do these with any key on the piano.
If you want to go back and check out
my chord progression hacks, I'll link it in the top above so you can check that out.
I'll show
you that you can play these chord progressions in any key that you want to.
These are just the
simplest chords to play in the minor scale, just to show y'all and give y'all an idea on how you
can play these chord progressions.
Real quick, I'm just going to go ahead and just play the first one
[Cm] and show y'all how I normally play it.
So it'd be like this.
You know what I'm saying?
If you just
practice a little bit and then you'll get the hang of it.
I mean, it's basically just that
simple chord progression I use.
Just that simple movement and then I'll take it up.
Don't let all this extra shit throw you off because all I'm doing is just playing in the
C minor scale.
I'm not going off the C minor scale at all.
So I'm messing up a little bit,
but I mean that's normally how I play my simple chord progressions.
So that's [Gm] really it.
That's
really how I play my chord progressions, especially simple chord progressions like that.
I mean, there's really nothing to it and you don't have to play in the C minor scale.
You [D] can play
in any [Gm] type of scale that you want to.
That was just the simplest way for me to show y'all
on how to play those simple chord progressions.
If you want to go ahead and check out my chord
progression hack video that I did a while back, like I said, I'm going to link it up in the
description or I'm going to have it in the description too, but I'm also going to link
it up on the top for y'all.
So I hope y'all enjoyed this.
If you did, please let me know
