A bit high for me because it's Art Garfunkel's voice, but we can [B] certainly get into the guitar part which is really beautiful in itself.
Let's start with the introduction.

If you bring your D chord shape up the neck until the two fingers are at fret 7 from the capo, actual [F] fret 8 of your guitar.
Ring finger should be on [B] 9, or 8 from the capo.
And we're going to play at bar 1.
4 and 1 [Cm] pinched, _ 4 and 2 [Eb] pinched, 3, 4.
_ Then lift the 1st string finger off to open the 1st string finger up, 4 and 1 both open, 3, 4 and 2, 3. _ _ _
[B] Now the rhythm is quite complex here.
[Cm] 1 e [Eb] and a, 2 e and, 3 and 4 and.

_ _ For [B] bar 2 put the middle finger back down on the 1st string, pinch [Cm] 4 and 1, 3, [Abm] 2.
I use index and middle fingers for 3 and 2 there.
[Eb] 3, 4, _ again open up [Bb] that 1st string, 4 and 1, [Eb] 3, 4, 3. _

[Cm] Nothing on the 2 beat.

Bar 3 is a combination of the two bars we've just played.
It starts off the same as bar 2 started.

Pinching 4 and 1 [Eb] open, 3, 4 and 2.
And 3 now will be open because we're [Ab] changing chord shape.
_ _ _ [Cm] So 1 [Ab] and a, 2 e [Eb] and, 3 and 4 [Ab] and.
And we're moving.
We're moving to this shape.
The D chord at bar 4 is [Eb] 1st string 5th fret, 2nd and 3rd string 7th fret.
Pinch 4 and 1, _ 3, 2.
And then fingers will be coming [B] away.
You're going to play 3 [Ab] and 4 both open as you're moving into a G chord shape [Abm] in the 1st position.

Notice that that was a 2 beat bar, a [Eb] D there. _

But make sure it's a backwards G.
You can't play G this way on this song.
Because of what Paul Simon likes to do around this [Ebm] position.

But don't move the other two fingers away.
