In Your Eyes Lesson chords
Start Jamming...
Hey, Zach, what's going on man?
[A] This is gonna review [G] the lesson that we had on in your eyes by Peter Gabriel
the chord progression is going to be B minor [Bm] [A] a
To [D] D for the large [G] part of the [Em] verse okay, and then the pre-chorus is [A] gonna go [G] a To G [A] [C] G
And then the chorus is gonna be [E] going E to [D] D
Okay for the most part of this song [Dm] the version that I told you to [A] check out for an acoustic
[G] Version is by a guy named Jeffrey Gaines, and that's G a I n e s he does a really [B] cool
Rendition of this song the [G] original version is great, too, but it doesn't have a whole lot of guitar in it
So to be able to play one [C] that play a version that does you may want to check out that song
That version of this song so again
the [Bm] verse chords B minor
Okay, that looks like this [N] on the second fret to a major
Okay to D.
All right and on D.
Don't play this top E string.
Okay, so the rhythm is [A] gonna go
[Bb] Down [Am] up down up down and that first down is a little bit longer
So your second stroke is gonna be up
[G] Okay, so you're gonna do [Bm] that on a B minor and [A] [D]
that a chord just for simplicity what you can do [A] is just play that [Bm] once
[A] [D]
[Bm]
And then [Am] I'm [Bm] muting basically right there
You [A] [D]
[Bm] [A]
[D]
[Am] can add your pinky up to that D [D] suspended chord
So [Bm]
[A] [D]
I'm gonna [Am] do the rhythm.
I'm gonna try to do this without playing the actual chord
It's kind of hard to do without playing that left hand
a [D] D
E [Am] minor
[D] a
B
[A] minor a D
Okay, [N]
so practice that a couple times to get it.
That's the [Bm] verse
[A] [D]
[Bm] So lost
[A] [D] sometimes
[Bm] Days [A]
pass
[D]
[Bm] And this moment keeps [A] slipping [D] away
[Bm] When I want [A]
[D] to run away
[Bm] I drive off [A] in [D] my car
[Bm] But [A] whichever
[D] way I turn
I [Bm] come back to the [A] place [D] you are
Okay, now the pre-chorus is gonna go a [A] to G
all my [G] mistakes
They [A] return
grand [G] facade
So soon we'll [A] burn
without [G] noise
Without my [A] pride.
I reach [D] out [G] for me
Sit on this
In [E] your eyes
On eyes, you're gonna go to E major.
Okay, he majors gonna look like that
All [Am] right.
So the pre-chorus again a to G a to G a to G
You sit on G at the end
[C] When he's going oh in your eyes and on eyes you go to E major.
Okay.
Now we're gonna go from E to [E] D
We're gonna go
[Ab] So this is in [E] your eyes
the light [D] the heat I
am [E] complete
See the [D] doorway
Thousand [E] churches the [D] resolution
of all my [E] researches
[D]
[E] Yes
[D] I
[E] [D]
[E] feel it in your eyes.
Oh
in your eyes, oh
Oh
Now all I'm doing there on [G] when it looks like I'm just holding [F] that E chord, but actually what I'm doing is I'm playing E
[Gb] [E] Whoops.
Okay, and then I'm adding my pinky
[C] To the second fret of the D string.
So basically it's gonna be an E [E] suspended chord
and
[Am] that's just
[A] And right there you're gonna hammer up with your [E] pinky
There's the hammer and then you pull it off
So Okay
So now you've got the [C] entire song you've got a verse which is gonna go B minor a to D
[G] You've got a pre-chorus which is gonna go a to G a to G a to G so on and so forth
You sit on the G and then you go into your E to D progression [N] for the chorus
He's kind of going in and out of different keys, which is kind of cool
And then on that [C] E chord you're you're gonna hammer up to E [G] sus4 or just E suspended
You [Am] can call it also another suspended chord [G] is from D
You're gonna use your [Am] pinky on that to go up from the second fret to [G] the third fret for a [C] D
Suspended or a D sus4 chord, [D] okay
And anytime I'm doing [C] that in this song for me at least I'm gonna [D] hammer
I'm [Am] gonna play the [D] chord and [E] then hammer up with [D] my pinky Okay
Or the opposite of a hammer is a pull off.
Okay, or
Just like that you [C] play it and then you either pull or hammer accordingly, okay, so follow that chord progression [D] and
[Em]
[Gb] You may want [B] to go online and try [D] to get the [C] actual lyrics as I'm [G] sure that I was not [F] doing those 100% correctly
But again, Jeffrey Gaines is gonna be a cool [Fm] guy to check out for that.
He might even be on YouTube
I haven't really checked it out, but
[Bb]
It's a great song I hope you [F] found that helpful
Just practice the rhythm.
I know that we've kind of been working [C] on that a little bit
If you keep one rhythm [F] consistently throughout the entire song, it's probably gonna be the easiest way to do [C] it
Like I said that original mp3 is really gonna be kind of all over the place as far as instrumentation and rhythm
[F] But listen to that Jeffrey Gaines version.
It should be able to help you out
So thanks a lot for tuning in Zach everybody else who [N] hopefully found this helpful
Welcome you guys are always welcome back
Anyway, that's it.
