[G] Hey, what's up you guys?
Marty [A] Schwartz here with Marty Music. _
We're gonna learn Jane Says from Jane's Addiction right now.
_ Super classic.
Think you guys will dig it.
Also thanks for supporting me at Marty Music right here.
I appreciate you so much. _ _
Especially if you were to subscribe to the channel and click that bell notification.
_ Also if you're trying to dig deeper into learning guitar, check out the description below for
some killer resources.
_ All right, let's break it down.
All right, we're gonna take a G [G] chord. _ _ _ _ _
_ For this song I prefer the G chord with the ring on the third of the B, pinky on the third
of the high E there. _ _ _ _
[A] And then we're gonna go up to an A chord and we wanna do the one _ finger A chord.
_ _ _ _ So we can do a, _ _ _ _ _ _ _
which is going to be a fourth fret G while you're holding the chord. _
_ _ [B] So [A] four, two [F#] on the G _ and then the same thing on the D.
[E] _ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _
[A] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [G] _ _ _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ _ [G] _ _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ _ [G] _ _
_ _ [A] _ _ _ _ [G] _ _
_ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _ [G] _
_ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _ _
[N] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Down, down, down, up, up, up, down, up, down, up, down, down, down, up, up, up, down, up,
down, up, down, down, [Am] up, up, down, up, down, [G] up.
_ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ [A] _ _ _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ [A] _ _
_ _ _ _ See that?
How that works?
_ So you're holding _ with _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ the index finger. _ _
_ If I just bar it down, now I'm not barring it across all of the second fret. _ _ _ _
_ I'm just kind of flattening it down there _ _ _ _ and the high E is muted. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ I'm using my pinky instead of my [G] ring finger, but you could use either one.
I use my pinky because it helps me keep that bar down _ better.
It needs more of my index finger stretch if I use my ring finger.
_ So if I use my pinky, I can really lock that down and it's just easier for me to play.
So that's the main part.
Now the change, you could actually get by _ almost playing the identical part. _ _ _ _
The bass line really holds a lot of the feeling of a change in this section.
So I'm going to show you a little _ in between, especially if a lot of people will play this
_ solo and there's a way you can add a little _ oomph to the chorus.
So it's a G _ and _ _ _ _ _ _ then an [A] A7 _ _ and _ _ _ _ once again, I'm using that same technique as before, index
finger, A chord, but now I'm using my pinky _ _ on the third fret of the high E. _ _ _ _ _
_ _ And so what you get is you get a little _ [G] sound of the change of this. _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [E] _ [A] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [G] _ _ _ _ [F#m] _ _ _
_ [G] _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _
_ [G] _ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _
_ [G] _ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _
_ [G] _ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _
_ [G] _ _ _ _ _ _ [A] _
_ _ _ _ [G] _ _ _ _
_ _ [A] _ _ _ _ [G] _ _
_ _ _ _ Now the bass is going, _ _ _ [F#] _ [E] _ [D] _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ [F#] _ _ [D] _ _
[G] I mean, a lower D than I _ have.
_ So it could also be, _ _
_ [F] _ [G] oops, sorry. _ _ _
[F#] _ [E] _ [D] _ _ [G] _ _ _ _
[F#] _ [E] _ [D] _ _ [G] _ _ _ _
[F#] _ [Em] _ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _
[F#m] _ _ [D] _ _ _ [G] So _ what _ [A] _ _ _ [G] _ _
you could do is you [Am] could add that second fret E string to match up with that
[G] bass line _ _
_ _ _ [D] _ _ [A] _ _ _
_ and you're also hitting the open [G] E. _
_ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ [G] _
_ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _ [A] _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ [A] _ _
_ _ _ [G] _ _ _ _ [A] _
_ _ _ [G] _ _ _ _ [A] _
_ _ [G] And a lot of times with G, _ _ you can see my index finger's up in the air, I'm noticing. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
I've been playing this this way a lot more lately and it's just muting the A string.
_ You just get a really clean _ _ sounding G chord.
_ _ It's basically a G5. _
_ _ So you notice that, but you could play one of the, there's two guitar parts.
There's another guitar part that's _ _ _ _ _ playing the G that way.
So just to keep in mind, _ it's all, if you're just playing it by yourself, it's kind of
a taste thing, but let's just, while we're here, let's play it from [N] the top.
One, two, [G] three, four.
_ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
[G] _ You'll need [A] this. _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
[G] They tune this [A] down like five steps [G] now when they play it live now.
[A] _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _
[G] All right, let's go to the [A] next part. _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _
[G] Here we go, to the top.
_ [A] _ _
_ [G] _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

_ [G] _ _ _ _ _ _ [A] _
_ _ _ _ [G] _ _ _ _
_ _ [A] _ _ _ _ [G] _ _
_ _ _ _ Now the bass is going, _ _ _ [F#] _ [E] _ [D] _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ [F#] _ _ [D] _ _
[G] I mean, a lower D than I _ have.
_ So it could also be, _ _

[F#] _ [E] _ [D] _ _ [G] _ _ _ _
