Jeannie Sealy's got a story that relates to the lady sitting over there, because Shelly West is here.
And of course you and you and Dottie were very good friends.
And you say, well tell the story.
Dottie was in Las Vegas and was lonesome and called you.
Yeah, Dottie was working in Las Vegas.
She was opening for
Tillis at the old frontier.
[F#] And she called me one day and she said,
Everything's going great.
I'm having a wonderful time, Tillis and the band.
Everybody's just great to me.
But she said I need some girlfriend time.
She said why don't you throw some things in a suitcase and
come out here and spend some time with me.
And she said heck we might even write a song.
And so we did.
The funny thing on that, I had, back then you could change your plane ticket without a
penalty, you know.
So I was, it came time to go and I'm putting stuff in the suitcase.
And I'd turn around to get something else and look back and Dottie had taken out what I had just put in there.
She'd called and changed my reservations again, you know.
But we had wonderful times.
And I said somehow, you know, when I saw the schedule
I said they wouldn't make me do this today when Shelly's here, but I'm gonna do like Jessie.
I'm gonna be nervous, but I'm not gonna let it throw me.
[D] I'm gonna take that as a positive
insight that I'm doing this for Shelly.
So this is one that you and Dottie actually wrote in Las Vegas.
Yeah, and you know, I always ask who or what was that written about.
Dottie had taken my guitar player.
There for a while I thought I was running a school for Dottie West musicians.
But she said you have good taste.
So, but several musicians went to work with Dottie and I just lost my guitar player.
And so she said did you find somebody else?
And I said, yeah, he's not all so-and-so was, but he's all I need.
And she said oh, and I'm like, okay.
So she got the guitar and I got the legal pad.
This was it.
I'm unplugged.
