Jeff Steinberg Sings "Follow Me" On The Old Time Gospel Hour TV Show - October 29, 1972 chords
Start Jamming...
We go out on television and radio rallies almost every Monday night and Tuesday night,
and sometimes Thursdays and Fridays and Saturdays.
We're home on Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night here at Thomas Road Baptist Church.
Last Tuesday night we had the joy in Pennsylvania of meeting a young man that Doug and I agreed,
but it was worth the trip just to meet Jeff Steinberg.
Jeff is a completed Jew.
He knows Jesus Christ as his Messiah and his Lord and his Savior.
Jeff has no arms or legs.
He drives an automobile about a thousand miles a week.
He's a preacher.
He's a teacher.
He's only 21 years old.
And Jeff asked me even to mention that he's single.
But Jeff Steinberg is a real, dedicated, committed Christian who sings beautifully.
Doug Oldham said he sings too beautifully.
Doug said let's not get him on too much now.
But Doug Oldham and Jeff sang together for us up at Pennsylvania after the meeting was over and the crowd came back in.
We had us a revival after the service.
Jeff, I want you to come and just give us a word of testimony right now.
I want you to just tell a little bit of what the Lord's done for you.
Come right on up and then I want you to sing for us.
Jeff [Ab] Steinberg, it's a joy to have you with us.
Thank you, Jerry.
It's a privilege to be here to share [Gm] with you what [Ab] Jesus Christ [B] means to me.
For he's everything.
Just like Jesus called the disciples individually, each one, he only [Ebm] used two words.
[Fm] And I can look back at those same two words that [Bb] he used to [G] call me.
[Gm] I'm glad that Jesus [G] means so much to my [A] heart.
Without [Gb] him I'd be [C] nothing.
[Gm] Now I want you to listen to a song that talks about those two [Cm] words.
[C] Follow [Ab] me.
[Bb] [Eb]
I [Gm] traveled down [Bbm] a lonely [Eb] road
[Ab] And [Abm] no one seemed [Eb] to [Fm] [Eb] care
[Gm] The burden on [Cm] my weary back
[A] Had [F] bowed me [Abm] to despair
[Bb]
[Eb] I'd [Gm] oft complain [Bbm] to Jesus
[Abm] [Eb] How [Ab] folks [Abm] were treating [Eb] me
[Cm] And then I [B] heard [Eb]
say [Bb] [Ab] to [Eb]
[Ab] me
[Eb] My [Ab] feet were [Gb] oh so weary
[B] [Eb] Upon that [Gm] [Bm] [Db] Calvary road
[Eb] [Ab] My cross became so [Cm] heavy
[F] That I fell
[Fm] It's [Bb] love, [Bb] be [Eb] faith, [Gm] [Bbm] weary [Db] pilgrim
[Eb] [Ab] The [Abm] morning I [G] can [Eb] see
[Cm] [G] Just [Cm] lift [B] your cross [Eb] and follow [Bb] close [Eb] to me
I'd [Bb] work so hard [Bbm] for Jesus
[Ab] Why I'd [Abm] often boast [Eb] and say
[Ab] [Eb] [Gm] I'd sacrificed [Cm] a lot of [Gm] things
[G] To walk [Cm] this narrow [Abm] way
[Bb] [Eb] I gave [Gm] up fame and [Bbm] fortune
I'm [Abm] worth a lot to [Eb] him
[Cm] And then I [B] heard [Eb] him gently [Ab] say [Bb]
[Ab] to [Eb] me
[Ab] [Eb] I [Ab] left the throne of [Fm] glory
[Eb] And [Gm] counted it [Ab] but [Eb] lost
My [Ab] hands were nailed [Cm] in anger
[F] Upon a cruel [Fm] cross
[Bb] But [Eb] now we'll [Gm] make [Db] the [Eb] journey
[Ab] With your [Abm] hand [Eb] safe in mine
Just [Cm] lift your [B] cross [Eb] and follow [Bb]
close to [Eb] me Oh [Gm] Jesus
[Db] If [G] I die [Eb] upon some [Ab] [Abm] foreign field [Eb] someday
To it be no more than [Cm] love demands
[F] No [Gm] less [Abm] could [F] [Ab] I repay
[Bb] You [Eb] said no [Gm] greater love [Bbm] hath mortal [Eb] man
[Ab] Than for his [Abm]
friends [Eb] he'd die
[Cm] These are [B] the words he [Eb] gently [Ab] spoke [Bb]
[Ab] to [Eb] me [Eb] Now listen
If [Ab] just one cup [Fm] of water
[Eb] I place [Bb] within your [Db]
[Eb] hand
[Ab] And just one cup [Cm] of water [F] is all
But [Fm]
[Bb] [Ab] [Bb] [Eb] if [Gm] by death to [Bbm] living
[Eb]
They [Ab] can [Db] thy [Eb] glory see
[Cm] Oh then I'll lift [B] my cross
And [Eb] I'll follow [Bb]
[Ab] [Bb] close [Gb] [Cm]
[Ab] to [Abm] thee
[Eb]
