Gospel song, this is another song we wrote a long time ago in [E] 1971 and
recently we had to record this because we had so many requests for it.
It's been
covered by the Easter Brothers and the Green Valley Quartet and of course a lot
of the Southern Gospel people have recorded this, four or five groups in the
Southern Gospel field and just was informed before I came over, I was
working with my good friend Raf Stanley and he's in the studio this month there
for Rebel Record Company recording a gospel album and he told me that he was
going to put this particular song along with a couple more of mine in his new album
so that [A] made me feel pretty good.
But it's a song [Eb] that kind of grows on me, I
let it just lay after I recorded it for County Record in 1971 with the Shenandoah
Cut-Ups Quartet and recently a couple of years ago I started singing it on my
personal appearances and everybody started requesting the song and people
would come around said I heard that song before but sing it again so I sung
it and I sung it and other people recorded it and like I said Raf Stanley
supposed to do it this month and other people have promised me that they were
going to record it but it it's a very beautiful story to this gospel song
called In His Arms I'm [D] Not Afraid.
[A] When
[E] [A]
I close my eyes in death, hold my
[B] hands upon my [E] breast, sing [A] for me [D] a pretty [A] song.
While [Ab] I take [E] my [A] journey home, not afraid [D] to bid this world [A] goodbye, not afraid [B] to
close my eyes [E] and die [A] for this courage I have prayed.
[D] In [A] his arms [E] I'm [A] not afraid.
[D] [A] When [E] [A]
I cross [D] that [A] silent sea where the home [B] lights beckon me, I'll [A] feel no pain,
I'll fear no harm, [D] safe [A] secure [E] in [A] Jesus' arm.
Not afraid [D] to bid this world [A] goodbye,
not afraid to [B] close my eyes [E] and die [A] for this courage [D] [A] I have prayed.
In [A] his [E] arms I'm [A] not afraid.
[D] In [A] his [E] arms I'm not [D] afraid.
