So this is my guitar, Coco.
I've had this guitar since 94 and I bought it from
at Gruen [Eb] Guitars here in Nashville.
And I started for years, you know, when I was a
kid I wanted to get a record deal and all this and so [D] that was my goal.
[F] [E]
And
[Gb] gosh [Eb] finally when [F] I was in my [Eb] mid-30s some things started happening but they
didn't really pan out for the first [Gb] two albums.
But I started, people
started recording my songs and it was something that I never [D] had planned [E] on.
You know, I didn't intentionally plan on that happening.
It was almost as if it
just, not by accident, but I didn't consciously go in and say, hey I want to
pitch this to so-and-so.
But I had a publishing deal with an independent
publisher called Blue Water Music in Nashville.
And I was living in Los
Angeles at the time.
But anyway when people started cutting my songs I
went out and [F] got this [E]
Collings.
It was [Eb] brand new [D] back then and I put a lot of
wear [Eb] on it [D] through the years.
Cocoa as I call her.
[Ab] But [A] anyway
[F] that's a
little [N] backstory on Cocoa.
But as I was, when I had recorded those nine songs
first for this record, and I'd never done a 20 song album before.
I tried a couple
of times and I kind of ran out of steam at 16.
And time wise too I
decided, all right I got to turn this in.
I got to get this [A] done.
So [Eb] when I knew I
was going in for another batch in the [Gb] studio, this title just came to me.
And I
thought, well that's that's a good album title too.
And it kind of, you know, for
me it was like during periods, which happen a lot, [F] where I feel like I [E] don't
know, you know, what's going on in the [Eb] world or who I am or whatever.
And or
what I'm worth or what I can give or [A] anything.
And so [Db] I just [A] thought, you know
what?
And my best, my favorite moments it seems like in [F] life are these [Eb] kind of, you
know, [Gb]
times without thought or whatever where [Eb] a melody comes to me and a song
comes out.
And [E] so I just thought, well you know, that's that's my essence right
there.
That's really what [F] I am.
[A]
I'm a song, I'm a song, and the band [E] plays on [A] and on.
I can hear you sing along.
I'm [D] a song, [E] I'm [A] a song, [B] [Db] [D]
love on your harmony.
[B]
You [Bm] sound so good [E] to me.
[A] You're
a song, you're a song.
I [D] could stay [E] here [A] all day long.
We could dance until the
dawn.
[D] We're a song, [E] we're [A] a song.
[E] [A]
[D]
Don't know another way.
[B]
There's still [Bm] so [E] much
to say.
[A] I'm a song, I'm a song, and the band [E] plays [A] on and on.
I can hear you sing
along.
I'm a song, [E] [A] I'm a song, I'm a song.
You're a song, we're a song.
[E]
[A]
[A] [C]
Thanks.
