[N] And now, for the first time ever, VH1 Classic is proud to present Judas Priest Acoustic.
Here's a great song that was originally composed by John Baez.
And when it was presented to us many, many years ago, we were kind of intrigued by the
[Gb] possibility of taking [Em] an acoustic [F] version of this great folk song and making it into
a rock and metal version, which we did do, and it's become something of a Priest [N] trademark.
But now what we've actually done is gone back to the roots of it, so this is our acoustic
version of Diamonds and Rust.
[Eb] [Ebm]
[B]
[Gb] [Ab]
[Bbm] [Ebm]
I'll be damned, here comes [B] your ghost again.
Well that's [Gb] not unusual, it's just that [Db] the moon is full, and you decided [Eb] to [Ebm] come.
And here I sit, and on [B] the telephone, hearing [Gb] a voice I'd known a couple [Db] of light years ago.
Yet it's straight [Eb] for a [Ebm] fall.
Well [B] we both know what memories [Db] can bring, they bring [Ebm] diamonds and rust.
[B] Yes we both know what [Gb] memories [Db] can bring, they [Gb] bring diamonds [Ebm] and rust.
[Bbm] Now I see you standing all around, with [Abm] snow in your hair.
[Bbm] Now we're smiling out the window at Coney Hotel, over [Abm] Washington Square.
[B] Our breath comes out white towel, mangles and [Gb] hangs in the air.
[E] Speaking strictly for me, we both hit a [Ab] dime.
[Bb] And in that, [B] [Db] [Eb] yeah.
[Ebm]
[B] [Gb]
[Ab] [Bb] [Gb]
[Bb] [Eb] [Ebm]
Now you're telling me, you're [B] not nostalgic.
Then give me [Gb] another word for it.
You who's [Db] so good with words, and at keeping [Eb] things [Ebm] vague.
Well I need some of that meanness now, it's all come [B] back to clearly.
I loved [Gb] you dearly, but if you're [Db] offering me diamonds and rust, I've [Ebm] already paid.
[B]
Diamonds, [Db] diamonds and [Ebm] rust.
[B] Diamonds, [Gb] [Db]
diamonds [Ebm] and rust.
[B] Diamonds, [Db]
diamonds and [Eb] rust.
I don't want no [B] more diamonds, [Db] diamonds [Ab]
and [Eb] [Ebm] rust.
This
[B] is a song taken from the latest Priest release, Angel of Retribution.
[Gb] And [Ab] the inspiration [B] comes from the desert southwest, from Arizona.
A great place to kind of [F] experience the [N] isolation and the loneliness of the desert.
And that's the kind of message in this forlorn song about lost love and the search for it.
Because some things are lost, and some things are found.
And some things [Eb] are worth fighting for.
[Ab] [Eb] [B] [Gb]
[Db] [Ab] [Eb] [Ab] [F] [Ebm]
[B] [Gb]
[Ab] [F] [Eb]
[Ebm] You said I would never find [B] a way to [Abm] ease your mind.
[Ebm] Where I'd go you'd wind up in [Abm] the dust.
[Gb] [F]
[Ebm] Tried so hard to have you reach [B] another side [Abm] of me.
[Ebm] Instead you went to nowhere and [Ab] forgot.
[Gb] So [F] [Eb] I'm [B] moving [Gb] on, asking where you might [Ab] have [Gb] gone.
[F] [Eb] From what I [Ab] knew [B] before, [Gb]
some things are worth [Ab] [Ab] fighting [Gb] for.
[Eb] Desert
[Ebm] heat can wear you [B] down, but still I'm rolling [Abm] through.
[Ebm] Did I see your figure in the [Abm] haze?
[Gb] [F] [Ebm] I am driven by [Eb] a thirst [B] to quench myself of [Ab]
love.
[Ebm] Sunbeats on me for the price [Ab] I've paid.
[F] [Ebm] So I'm moving [Gb]
on, asking where you [Ab] might have [Gb] [Fm] gone.
[Eb] From what [Bb] I knew
[B] [Gb] before, some things are [Ab] worth fighting [C] [Eb] for.

[B] [Gb] [Ab]
[Bb] [Ebm] [B] road leads [Ab] me to a town [Eb] of ghosts.
I'm [Gb] beckoned by [B] the glow of
[Abm] kerosene and [Eb] tumbleweed.
[B] [Abm] They're [Ebm] calling out for [B] [Abm] [Ebm] more.
[B] [Ab] [Eb] [Ab] [Gb]
Head bowed down from [Ab] [Eb] what [Ab] I [F] saw.
[Eb] My shadow for [B] a [Gb] friend.
Still some things are worth [Ab] fighting for.
[Ebm] So I'm [B] moving on, [Gb] asking where [Ab] you [Ebm] might [Ab] have gone.
[Eb] From what I [Ebm] knew before, [Gb] some things are worth [Ebm]
[Ab] fighting [F] for.
[Eb] Yeah.
