[F] [C] [Dm] Hey [D] guys, Danny from [N] Voyager here.
I just thought it'd be time for a little keyboard tutorial and how to shred on a keyboard
Rather than how to shred on a guitar because YouTube is full of too many guitar videos and I don't think keyboard players get a fair chance
So I've got my trusty M50 here.
Thanks to the guys at Korg and
Today I'm going to show you
Hopefully if you have some basic keyboard skills at the end of today, you should be able to play this
[Dm]
[C] [F] [C] [F] [C]
[Dm] [A] [Dm] Etc, etc, etc
[G] So the first thing we're going to do is [F] to go really really slow and show [N] you guys how the shredding begins
[Abm] Okay, I'm just put the keyboard on this little angle here so you guys can see it
It's gonna be a little awkward for me to play but I'll give it my best shot.
The note, the [Fm] first note is an F
[N] Second note is an A
[F]
[G]
The fourth note is an F again, so I want you to keep practicing [Dm] that
[Eb] Do that a few times maybe a hundred two hundred times [N] then move on to
[A]
E [N]
and A and then
C sharp, that's right
[A] so [Dm] you've got
And [A]
in the end [G] you keep practicing that and it's gonna [Dm] go
[A]
And [Dm] [A] [Dm]
keep [N] doing that over and over again until you get it faster and faster and faster
[Ebm] The second part and we're just doing the right hand now, by the way in [F] case you haven't noticed
Second part [Dm] is to go
[A]
[Dm] [C]
Which is [N] a G, a C and E and another [F] G
Okay, I hope you can see that the second part again as I [C] said
the [Ab] [Dm]
[A] [Dm] [C]
[F] third part will go A C F
A
So we're alternating sort of pedaling [C] between
[F] See
[C] the first [Dm] phrase and [F] then the second phrase
[G]
[C] See the [Dm] left phrase
[F]
So once you've practiced that to death and I mean to death so
Get [Fm] faster and faster and faster and
Then we go to the left hand, which is the tricky part
[Gb] Actually, the tricky part is combining both the hands, but the [Fm] left hand is a little tricky
What we're doing here is the same sort of pattern start off by doing [Dm] this
[Fm] Which is a D and an F
next part is a [Db] C [Dbm] sharp and
[Dm] [Dbm] [Dm]
[Dbm] Keep doing that and keep [Dm] practicing that [Dbm] [Dm] [Dbm]
[Cm] second [Dm] phrase is
[Em] [Dm] D F D F [Em] E G E G
And [F] then an F A F A and then [Em] back down to an E G G
So you can see the pattern [Dm] that we're playing before
[A]
Will [Dm] correspond to
[Dbm] So [Dm] [Am] [Dm]
[Em] [Ab] [F]
[Em] the right hand corresponds [Abm] to the left hand it kind of moves and then we'll make it shred later on
Okay, the next thing we're going to do is we're going to combine the right hand and the left hand and we're going to make
It into [Fm] triplets triplets being like um cha cha um cha cha um cha cha um cha cha
Okay, so what we end up and this is and make sure you start this quite slow is [Dm] this
Okay, [A] [Dm]
[C]
[F] [C]
[Dm]
[A] [Dm]
[Ab] so
That will enable [Abm] us to then later on play it faster and faster and faster and faster until we get to
[F] What we want to be in the end, which is a total shred fest
Okay, so we've got that far and
Sorry, I have to put the keyboard down because playing it that way is really really hard
[Eb] Okay, cool.
So [Fm] one [Dm] once we've got this
[A] [Dm]
[C] [F] [C]
[F] [C]
[G] Then all [Ab] you need to do is play it faster and faster and faster
And the main thing is to keep the left hand nice and nimble not too legato [Dm] to keep kind of like [Dbm]
[Dm] it
[Em] [F] Keep [Fm]
moving the fingers [E] as quickly as possible and release them as quickly as possible.
That will give you that [Abm] nice
Sort of stabby shreddy sound you can put here we come to the [N] final finale of
This tutorial and hopefully by now should be going a million miles an hour and remember what I said
Oh about the fingers and keep them nice and nimble and keep them nice and and staccato.
[Dm] So rather any other
[A]
[Dm]
Cool [C] [F]
[C] [F] [C] [Dm]
[A] [Dm] [C] [F] [C]
[F] [C] [G] [Dm]
[N] so hopefully that will give you a bit of an idea of how to like really totally awesomely shred on a keyboard
Really all it is is a
it's an arpeggio and you're just playing it faster and faster and faster getting the fingers more nimble more nimble and
And just shredding away really
[D] [C]
[Dm]
[Em] [Dm] [A] [Dm]
[C] Let's [F] [C] [F]
[Em] [Dm]
[C] [F] [C]
[F] [Am] take it up a notch
[Dm] [D]
[C] [F]
[C] [D]
[Dm]
All [C]
right, [F] I hope you enjoyed that guys take it easy see you next time
[Dm]
[C] [Dm] [A]

[Ebm] The second part and we're just doing the right hand now, by the way in [F] case you haven't noticed
Second part [Dm] is to go

[Dm] [C]
Which is [N] a G, a C and E and another [F] G
Okay, I hope you can see that the second part again as I [C] said
the [Ab] [Dm]
[A] [Dm] [C]

[C] the first [Dm] phrase and [F] then the second phrase

[Cm] second [Dm] phrase is
[Em] [Dm] D F D F [Em] E G E G
And [F] then an F A F A and then [Em] back down to an E G G
So you can see the pattern [Dm] that we're playing before
[A]
Will [Dm] correspond to
