[Gb] She just has to sing for the sake [G] of [B] the song.
[Gb] Who do I think that I am to decide that [Eb] she's [B] wrong?
[E] So what do [D] you [N] do musically?
Folky, southern rocky, bluesy, I don't know.
That's cool.
So are you guys going to get 99 cent smoothies?
Yeah.
That's better.
Tell them the banana is doing a great job.
What's your name?
I'm Mr.
Banana.
Alright, sweet.
Can I get a CD?
[D]
[N] I write for Offbeat Magazine and Dirty Linen Magazine.
And they had this CD and it was homemade.
This is the most interesting CD I've ever seen in my life.
[G] What is this?
And they go, oh that's Drew Landry.
I just couldn't believe the songs and the depth of writing.
It was still his first project.
I tell you what, the second [F] CD, there were a bunch of writers fighting over to review the [N] second CD that he put out.
And [Ab] luckily I won.
[N] From time to time I also do these house concerts when I have an artist that I really believe in.
And I won't just do anybody and people call me all the time.
But I have to feel like I'm going to do a house concert with somebody I feel like a connection with.
Because a lot of times with the house concerts, nobody's ever heard of some of these people.
So I can't have them if I really don't believe [C] in them.
It's [E]
[Bb] a good environment for [G] an artist to gain exposure.
And when they come back to town, if they've played enough house concerts in the area, they got a little bit of a following.
I'm [Cm]
[N] going to hear a song about my youth.
I guess I don't have much choice.
[Gm] Here you go, this is what [C] it's [G]
[D] about.
Yeah, it's [G] about
Woo-hoo, [Em] woo-hoo, [C] woo-hoo, [D] woo-hoo.
I'll take my shoes off.
[G] Here's that leaf sticker.
[C]
[G] [D] [G] [Em] [C]
[D] [G] It [Em] ain't as easy as [C] it [D] used to be to [G] steal a car.
[Em] [C]
[D] [G] She drove right [Em] through a stop sign.
[C] His friend's [A] house, [D] parked it in [G] her mama's yard.
[Em] [C]
[D] [G] My [Em] neighbors down the [C] street had fancy [D] BMXs, used [G] to race on [Em] Saturday.
[C]
[D] I've noticed a lot of singer [A]-songwriters at these folk festivals tend to [Dm] sing about themselves.
[D] Drew, his [G] songs are more about things that happened.
And they may be partly about things that happened to him, but they're not really just about himself.
He takes the whole world, the whole [E] picture, and puts [G] them into his songs.
reminded
of [Em] the things they [C] say, honey [D] dear.
[G] Woo [Em]-hoo, [C] woo [D]-hoo, woo-hoo, [G] woo-hoo.
[Em] [C]
[D] His is [Gm] different.
He puts his heart [D] into it.
The music today is kind of, they think of [G]
what other people do, and his is [D] like home, [C] his home.
We were [Em] juvenile delinquents, [G] [D] [C] [Em] not rich [G] enough for private school.
We're bad enough [C] for [Em] LTI.
Most of us [G] wound up doing time.
[D] A couple [C] of them died.
[Em] They kicked us [G] out of middle school, [D] skipping [C] class and smoking [Em] dink.
I ain't saying [G] we was worth a damn, but [D] maybe not [C] as bad as [Em] they were thinking.
[G] Woo [D]-hoo.
[C] We were [Em] juvenile delinquents.
[G] [D] [C] We stole your [Em] mama's liking, [G] dancing, [D] drinking, [C] till there was nothing [Em] left.
[G] Well, good show tonight, [D] man.
I had [C] a great time.
It's the first time I've ever sold a CD [Ab] to every person that came.
[N] The CD money made up for the gas, and now that Gary and Kevin are gone, it's like, I can afford to eat.
So, [A] it's [Ab] good, man.
We made enough to get to the next [Db] town.
