Chords for Lava Ukulele Play-along // Cynthia Lin (Chords + Lyrics)

Today we're going to play Lava.
That's the song from the Pixar animated
short Lava.
It's an easy ukulele song with only three chords.
We have C, _ [Dm] G7, [F] and F.
And
we'll [C#] be using the Island's drum.
So you can click here to learn the Island's drum if you
don't already know it.
It'll take you to the Stand By Me [D] tutorial.
And so you can learn
the Island's drum and then come back and play along with [C] us.
[C#] _ There's a chord chart
that you can download in the link below.
The [G] chord patterns are pretty straightforward.
You're going to play two Island's drums per chord, except for certain chords that I'll
put in brackets.
And for those, you'll only play one Island's drum per chord.

A long, long time ago, [G] there
was a volcano, [F] _
living all [C] alone in the middle [G] of the sea. _
_ [C] He sat high above his [G] bay, watching
all the couples [F] play, and wishing [C] that he had [G] someone to.
_ _ [C] And from his lava [G] came this
song of hope, that he sang [F] out loud every [C] day, for [G] years and years.
_ _ [F] I have a dream,
[C] I hope will come true, [G] that you're here with me, [C] and I'm here with you.
[F] I wish that the earth, sea,
[C] and the sky up above, [F] would send [G] me someone [C] to love.

_ _ _ Years of singing all [G] alone, turned his lava
[F] into stone, until he was [C] on the brink of [G] extinction.

But little did he know, [G] that living in the sea
below, [F] _ another volcano [C] was listening to [G] his song.
_ _ [C] Every day she heard his [G] tune, her lava grew and
[F] grew, because she [C] believed this song was meant [G] for her.
_ _ [C] Now she was so ready [G] to meet him above the
[F] sea, as he sang his song of [C] hope for the [G] last time. _

[G] that you're here with me, [C] and I'm here with you.

Rising from the sea [G] below, stood a lovely volcano, [F] _
looking all [C] around,
but she could [G] not see him. _
[C] He tried to sing, to let her know, [G] that she was not there [F] alone, but with
no lava, [C] his song was all [G] gone.
_ _ [C] He filled the sea with his tears, [G] and watched his dreams disappear,
[F] as she remembered what [C] his song meant to [G] her. _ _
[F] _ I have a dream, [C] I hope will come true,
[G] that you're here with me, [C] and I'm here with you.
[F] I wish that the earth, sea, [C] and the sky up above,
[F] will send [G] me someone [C] to love. _ _ _ _

Oh they were so happy [G] to finally meet above the sea.
[F] All together [C] now, their lava grew [G] and grew. _
