But the fact of the matter is, _ most [D] people in _ [Fm] the world have jobs _ [G] that suck.

_ [Eb] And I had some of those jobs.
I wrote this [Fm] song.
_ I was working on the highway in North Mississippi in [Bb] the middle of summer.

[D] My first day on the job, I wore [Db] some Converse [E] tennis shoes and they melted off my [Ebm] feet before [C] lunchtime.

[Em] But I figured out on that job that [F] it doesn't matter if you have [B] one of those jobs that suck.
If you do your best, if [Gb] you do the best you can do, at the very least, it's a shorter [F] path [B] toward a job [N] that sucks less. _ _ _
_ _ _ [B] I realize I'm never going to make it as a [Abm] motivational speaker.

_ _ _ _ [B] But in the [F] job category, sucking less is a bigger [Cm] deal than you might think.
[Bb] And so I wrote [Em] this song and [F] tried to do my [Ab] best.
And I _ reminded [Ebm] myself of it and I put it on [F] one of my little CDs.
And a couple [G] of thousand of my friends [Dbm] and family bought the [Ebm] CD and were [D] deeply moved by the message of the song.

_ [Gb] One of those [F] friends was Jimmy Buffett. _
_ _ _ _ [Bb] _ _ [C] And he put it on one of [Ab] his CDs and three [F] quarters of a million of his [Dm] friends and family _ _ _ [Bb] _ _ _
[C] were _ _ [G] all deeply moved by the message of [D] the song.

_ _ [G] And you'd [Db] think that I would be content with that, but no, [Ab] no I'm not.

_ _ _ _ _ [Bb] _ Until I can get _ _ Protestants [Gb] and Catholics and Democrats and Republicans and wrestlers and boxers to all kind of hold hands and sing this thing [Eb] like we are the world,
