America's Got Talent you were watching the show and you say, Marty Brown, I know that
guy, I know that face.
And all of a sudden there you are on America's Got Talent.
What
happened here?
Oh well, like I said, my wife, I would come back and forth from Franklin,
Kentucky and record here in Nashville and I'd make demos when I was doing my songwriting
to present to other artists to play.
And she put up with that for about 10 years.
I'd bring
a demo home and I'd say, man that sounds, that'd be good for so-and-so.
She'd say, Marty, that'd be good for you.
So after 10 years of that, well she tricked me.
And I'll never forget, my wife teaches
school in Bowling Green, Kentucky and she called me and said, I'm taking off for work today.
Said, we're going to go to Nashville and have a romantic lunch at Amerigo's.
I said, I'm game, I
love Amerigo's.
So she drove me down there and we had a nice romantic lunch and I said, well I'll
just drive around town, burn the gas, maybe we'll sing a few songs, see if I'm getting cut.
And she said, you can't do that today.
And that's when she loaded me up in the car, drove me down
there to the river, the convention center, popped the trunk, said the guitar's in the trunk, said
you're signed up for America's Got Talent.
And I'm like, oh no, no, no.
And she said, please just do it for me.
And I did.
I just, I walked in there and literally just to please her.
And they were so kind to me.
You did really well, went all the way to the semifinals.
They didn't let me out until about midnight that
night here in Nashville.
And they said, we'll contact you.
And they knew who I was.
I told them and they're like, we think that we can use you on the show.
So next thing I know,
it was in the back of my mind.
Two months later, went by and they sent me plane tickets to go out
to San Antonio, Texas to meet the judges, Howard Stern, Harry Klum.
Howard Stern,
Harry Mandel, Heidi Klum and Mel B.
I get tongue tied when I think of Heidi Klum too.
She's had this hat on her head.
Exactly.
All right, you're going to do a song for us now.

I'll do anything.
All right.
