I don't know.
Okay.
It was weird?
Yeah.
It was weird.
[F]
[Bb] So, how was the ride for you?
It was wonderful.
I [F] had a great time.
[Fm] Well, I scheduled St.
Paul.
I was in LA.
I came [F] in a couple of days ago.
And they were going to be here.
So I just called up Mickey and said,
one of those guys, I said,
if you've got an hour to rehearse, I'll be there.
How did it feel to be looking out in the crowd
with all these faces?
Were you [Fm] nervous at all?
[F] Yeah.
[Bb] Did you remember everything?
Did you rehearse hard?
[F] Yeah.
We got about an hour's worth of rehearsal in this afternoon.
I mean, all I could really do was a couple of numbers
because the show was all set.
But it was fun to read.
How was your initial reaction?
You first heard, was it David Bischoff's idea originally
to get you all back together?
Well, my reaction was the same as always.
Man, I just, you know, I've got a [D] booming business.
A lot of stuff going on in home video.
A lot of stuff going on with the motion picture business.
So the idea of being able to go on for a 100-day tour
was just impossible.
[Fm] But, you know, [F] like I say,
when the schedule synced up, here I was.
I read a quote that said that you had said
the Monkees were a television show and not a band.
That's exactly what we were.
We're a television show.
[Ab] I mean, you know, [F] I think we perform admirably
considering we're a television [A] show.
Uh-huh.
[Gb]
What about, um, [F] why do you think the time is really right?
Are you surprised that the revival isn't over yet?
Are you concerned people are accepting?
I don't think much about that.
I mean, you know, it's fine that people like it.
They, it's, it's hard [Fm] to know why. Uh-huh.
What about, is a, is a television [N] special going to work?
So are you going to be involved with that?
[Bb] It's again a [F] question of schedule.
You know, if it's, if the time load isn't real heavy,
you know, it's something I could conceivably do.
We talked about it.
We talk about it all the time.
We want to be able to sync it up so we can do it together.
But, you know, aside from just a couple of infrequent dates,
it doesn't look like it's going to be real possible.
So [D] did you like any kind of buzz?
Like, did you feel like you wanted to go back
and, [F] you know, find, make the time?
Well, it gave me a real buzz.
I really loved it because it was wonderful being up there on stage [D] with the guys.
And, you know, there was a lot of love up there and a lot of, you know, the fans were great.
But, [F] you know, I, it's nothing that I can do as a steady diet now.
I'm just, you know, my business has just grown like Topsy.
So it's nothing I can really walk away from.
What's going on with your business?
We make motion pictures.
Home video business.
[Bb] You're with MTV, [F] right?
Ask some of your bosses.
I'm just curious, it's called Pacific Arts, is it?
Right.
All right, well, okay, um,
following the music business, I'm sure you do, even though you're in the music business,
[D] is a highlight of 1986.
What did you do to your father [Bb] that was suspected of showing this?
I'm curious what the, in your opinion, like, what a musical highlight you would say.
[F]
I didn't even hear the question.
[Bb] Because of what Miggi was doing.
What's your highlight of [G] 1986?
Has been, either for you personally or just in [Bb] general for the music business?
As someone, you know, who takes a look at it.
Musical highlight?
Yeah.
The new Eurythmics.
The new Peter Gabriel.
What else?
[F] The Peter Gabriel.
New Robert Palmer.
The new [Bb] Robert Palmer video is really something.
Yeah?
Yeah.
Video?
Yeah.
Oh, that's good.
Fletchhammer?
No, no, that's Peter Gabriel.
No, I know Peter Gabriel.
Yeah, nice, nice.
What's the most [F] directed video of, you know, of the month for either of you?
I don't know.
Never know.
I think a movie.
Can you tell me about it?
They call them musicals.
In the old days they called them musicals.
Now they're called music videos.
West Side Story was a good music video.
What was it like for you tonight?
Was it one of the first ways Mike's been up here with you or not?
No, no, Mike very kindly consented.
We [D] talked about it at the beginning of the tour and he said, [F] you know, it wouldn't be possible.
But we were very, very pleased to have him here and it was an incredible thrill.
[Fm] It was an incredible thrill.
[Bb] It really seemed like he really had it.
I mean, he listens to you, you play all night.
When you stepped out, it was really incredible.
Of course, yeah.
You know, we were disappointed when Mike said he wouldn't be able to join us on the tour,
but we weren't surprised because, you know, we all have [Fm] our things to do.
And tonight was a real special moment, you know.
No question about that.
[Bb] We can do it again.
I'll do it again.
[F] Just a question of time.
Boom!
[Bb] Here we go!
Alright, thank you very [F] much.
Thank you.
[N]
Okay.
