Start Jamming...
Alright, alright, we're going back to the key of E flat,
Relic of mine, C, C minor, you know, let's go to Mr.
Magic.
Uh, real simple song by Grover Washington and others.
Great jazz song everybody plays.
And uh, I'm gonna give you a [Cm] way to play this one.
[F] [Cm]
[F] [Cm] So what we gonna do, spelled out, right hand G, [Eb]
B [Cm] flat, C, E flat.
[B] [C] So your bass line is C, C, C, [Fm] to your F, [N] walk it up.
That's an A, B flat, B, C.
[Cm]
[F] [Eb]
[F] And then when we go to that F, right hand, F, A, C, E flat.
So [B] now you know the bass, you [Gm] know.
So that's pretty much the whole, [C] the format of that part.
And uh, another thing you can [B] do, if you don't want to play it that way,
and you got your bass player, you can always use that E flat [Eb] major 7.
Uh, you don't do that with your left hand, you can,
[D] [Eb]
what I'm doing right there is a B flat, D, and an E flat.
[D] You're just dropping your second finger to the A, [Eb] keeping it [D] rest.
[B]
Cause if you do that, and if [G] you don't have nobody else playing with you,
you can do it like this.
[Eb]
[A]
[Eb] [D] [Eb]
[Cm] [Am] Especially if you have [N] your keyboard split, that way you know your bass player got you [Eb] on that.
[A]
[Bb] So what that [F] is, that's an F, E flat, and [Gm] then D, C, then B flat, A.
[Eb] Tap your A, [Ebm] [Am] walk it back up from the [Eb] A to the B flat to the C.
So I'm going to do that slow.
[A] [Eb]
[Cm] So you know [C] that's the whole part until you go to [Eb]
the
[Fm]
[Eb] [G] [Fm]
So right there, let's do a [Bbm] B flat and an F, and I [Fm] lift.
Right hand, we got an A flat, C, F.
[Cm] [G]
[Fm] [Ab]
Back to your minor.
[Cm] Put your E flat major 7 with your C on the bass.
Then we're going to [Ab] go
[Cm]
[F] [Eb] [Ebm] You know.
So let me slow that down.
[Dm]
[F] [Eb] [Gm] [Dm]
[Eb]
[Dm] [Fm]
[Eb] Like that.
[Bbm]
[Eb] That's when we take that D flat major [Bbm] 7.
A flat, C.
I'm sorry, A flat, C, D flat, F.
Add another A flat with your pinky if you want to.
B flat, F, and an F.
[Cm] We just drop that down.
[Ab] Thumb and [Cm] our pinky.
Keep the rest of the chord.
[Ab] Then you go to A flat.
Right hand, G, C, E flat, which is a C minor, and add an F and a G.
[G]
Remember that chord.
G, D on my bass.
G and a D.
Right hand, I got an F, B, E flat, F and a G.
[Cm]
[Bb] [Dm] [Fm]
[Cm] [Gm] [Cm] [Bbm]
[Eb] [Ab] [G] [Eb]
Right hand.
Right hand.
Now you're going to go from the E flat to the A flat.
Let's use that chord.
G, D, F.
Back to that same [Ab] chord.
A flat.
[Eb]
[Ab]
[Eb] [G] [Eb]
[D] [Eb] That's the whole song.
[Dm] [Eb]
Let's start from the top.
[G]
[F] [Fm]
[Cm] [Bbm] [Cm]
[Ab] [G] [Eb]
[Dm] D flat.
[Eb]
[Ab] [Gm]
[Ab] [Cm]
[Bb] [G] [Gm]
E flat.
If you want [Bb] to, when you're on that bass
E flat to the [Cm] B flat.
[Ab] A flat to the E [Eb] flat.
[Fm] [Cm]
[Gm] [G]
[Cm] [N]
It just holds it a little longer on the second time around.
That's Mr.
Magic, Grove, Washington.
