[N] Hey, what's up you guys?
Marty Schwartz here, GuitarJams.com.
I just saw Neil Young in concert in Central Park, Foo Fighters, and the Blackies.
Mind-blowing experience.
So I got to teach an epic rock and progression here for you guys on my new Fiesta Red Custom
Shop
[E] 62 reissue Fender Stratocaster.
[Eb] Oh my gosh, I [N] love this guitar.
So anyway, we're going to zoom in.
I'm going to teach you this rock and progression.
[E] But real quick at GuitarJams [N].com, you can actually sign my request list down there and
I'm going to send you a free chord and scale book and other lessons that are not on YouTube
that are really helpful to really get you going playing guitar.
I really appreciate it if you do that.
Let's zoom in and do it.
Here we go.
[E] Pretty great [B] song for a beginner, but also [C] a great song if you're a fan of music.
So I think it's a win-win [Eb]-win situation here.
Let's check this out though.
We're going to need an E minor chord, [Gb] which is like the ultimate beginner cowboy chord.
You can play it [Eb] with these two fingers or these two fingers.
[Em]
It's the [C] second fret on the A and the second fret on the D [Gb] and you strum the whole thing.
For [E] this, we're going to go, just all [Eb] down strokes, lots of attitude and aggression.
[E]
Then [N] we're going to go to a D chord.
If you're still learning, I like to think of the index finger coming over to the second
fret of the G right here and then middle finger on the second fret of the high E and ring
finger on the third fret of the B.
We're going to go, [D] [Gb]
[C] then ring finger over to the third
[Eb] fret of the A, second fret there, index finger first fret on the [C] B and that's called [E] a C chord.
So you have E minor, D, D, C.
E minor, yeah.
[A] D, [C] D, C.
[Em] E minor.
[A] D, D, [C] C.
[Em] E minor, yeah.
[A] D, D, [C] C.
[Em] E minor, oh.
[C] D, D, C.
That's [B] the verse.
[A]
[C] [E] Obviously, I was using distortion.
[D] [C]
[E] So all I [D] did, I turned the distortion pedal [F] on and you can get some fuzzy [E] sounds.
[C]
[E] [A] [C]
[E] [A] [C]
[Em] [A] [C]
[Eb] Then we need the chorus and we're going to play a G chord, third fret, second fret, third
fret or third fret, third [G] fret.
I like this [Fm] one because the next chord is [G] D and if your ring finger is on the third
fret of the B, [Em] it can [Eb] stay there as a pivot point back to that [G] D chord.
Check it out.
G, [A] G, D, D.
[G] G, [D] G, D, D, D, [C] C.
[G]
[D] [C]
[Em] [G]
[D] [C]
[Em] And I'm still just kind of doing all rock and roll [G] down strums, you know.
So we need a G chord.
G, [E] G.
[D] G, D, D, D, D, C.
And [Em] notice that it's the same chords as the verse [Eb] except for the first chord.
You can change it, change up, write a new part just by changing one [G] chord.
[D]
[C]
[E] Duh, [Em] duh, duh.
[Cm] And we need to go like this.
[Em] So we're [Eb] hitting the third fret on the A from that [C] C chord, [B] then the second fret and then
strumming a whole E [C] minor chord.
[E]
[B] [Em] [G]

[G] [D]

[Em] [A] [C]
[Em] So there's just one other thing, [Eb] Chuckie, chuh, chuh, chuh, chuh, chuh, more down rock
and roll strums on an A [A] chord or an A power chord.
[Fm] There's a lot of distortion on the [A] progression.
