[C] [Ab] [F]
Well, I left Kentucky back in 49 and [Bb] went to Detroit working on assembly [B] line.
[C] The first year they had me putting wheels on [F] Cadillacs.
Every day I'd watch them beauties roll [Bb] by and sometimes I'd hang my head and [C] cry, cause
always wanted me one that was [F] long and black.
One day I devised myself [B] a plan that [Bb] should be the envy of most [B] any man.
[C] I'd sneak it out of there in the lunchbox in [F] my hand.
Now getting caught meant getting fired, [Bb] but I figured I'd have it all by the [B] time I [C] retired.
I'd have me a car worth at least a [F] hundred grand.
I'd get it one piece at a time [Bb] and it wouldn't cost me a dime.
[C]
You'll know it's me when I come through [F] your town.
I'm gonna ride around in style.
[Bb] I'm gonna drive everybody wild, [C] cause I'll have the only one there [F] is around.
So the very next day when I punched [Bb] in with my big lunchbox and with the help of my [C] friend,
I left that day with a [G] lunchbox [F] full of gear.
I've never considered myself a [Bb] thief, but GM wouldn't miss just one little [C] piece, especially
if I strung it out over [F] several years.
The first day I got me a fuel [Bb] pump and the next day I got me an engine and a [C] trump, then
I got me a transmission and [F] all the chrome.
The little things I could get in my big [Bb] lunchbox like nuts, bolts, and all four [C] shocks, but
the big stuff we snuck [Em] out my [F] buddy's mobile home.
Now up to now my plan went all [Bb] right till we tried to put it all together one [C] night,
and that's when we noticed that something was [F] definitely wrong.
The transmission was a 53 [Bb] and the motor turned out to be a 73, [C] and when we tried to put in
the bolts all [F] the holes were gone.
So we drilled it out so that it would [Bb] fit and with a little bit of help from an adapter
[C] kit we had that engine running just [F] like a song.
Now the headlights, there was another [Bb] sight, we had two on the left and one on the [C] right,
but when we pulled out the [G] switch all three [F] of them come on.
The back end looked kind of funny too, [Bb] but we put it together and when we got through,
[C] well that's when we noticed that we [G] only had [F] one tail fin.
About that time my wife walked [Bb] out and I could see in her eyes that she had her doubts, [C] but
she opened the door and said, honey take me [F] for a spin.
So we drove uptown just to get the [Bb] tags and I headed to right on down Main [C] Drag.
I could hear everybody [Em] laughing for [F] blocks around, but up there at the courthouse they
didn't laugh [Bb] cause to type it up it took the whole [C] staff, and when they got through the
title weighed [F] 60 pounds.
I got it one piece at a time [Bb] and it didn't cost me a dime.
[C] You'll know it's me when I [G] come [F] through your town.
I'm gonna ride around in style, [Bb] I'm gonna drive everybody wild, [C] cause I'll have the
only [G] one there [F] is around.
Uh yeah Red Ryder this is the cottonmouth and the psychobilly Cadillac, come on.
Oh this is the cottonmouth, the negatory on the cost of this machine there Red Ryder.
You might say I went right up to the factory and picked it up, it's cheaper that way.
What model is it?
Well it's 49, 50, 51, [Bb] 52, 53, 54, 55, [C] 56, 57, 58, 59 [Em] [F] automobile.
It's a 60, 61, 62, [Bb] 63, 64, 65, 66, [C] 67, 68, 74 automobile.
