[Am] [B] You know, you can see the excitement Pat Green carries himself with [A] recently.
His highly [D] [Am] anticipated project, Home, is [B] what Pat calls a collection of tunes done the way
he wanted to do them.
[A] The great Lyle Lovett shares lead singing duties on the song [B] Girls from Texas.
Now Pat gives us the story behind that song.
[A] We were going to do a song that [F#] is new on the record called Girls from [G] Texas.
A friend of mine named John [G#] Randall wrote that song.
[A] I've recorded a few of his songs in [F#] the past, namely Austin.
[G] You know, it was one of those songs where we were in [G#] the studio and John was producing
the [A] record for us [A#] and he sent the song [B] home with me and didn't tell me what it was about
and I was like, [Em] alright, I'll give it a listen.
You know, it's kind of like you do, like every [F#m] song comes, it's the greatest song ever.
And I listened to it and I [Bm] literally was driving home from DFW [F#m] to my house in Fort Worth and
I got chill bumps.
I mean, [E] like I could see [B] them coming up in my arm and I'm, [Am]
you know, [E] emotional responses
make things obvious.
And so I took it home and I said, Cory, Cory's my wife, I just want you to listen to [A] this.
And I said, you know, take it at face [F#] value.
I mean, I've kind of been pigeonholed [G] as being, you know, I [G#] sing a lot about Texas, which
is fine with [A] me.
I mean, that's what I love, but [F#] I don't want to overdo it.
You know, you don't want to do [G] it just obviously.
[G#] And anyway, I played it for her and [A] she goes, you got to record that.
[A#] That's a great song.
And [B] then later on, John said, hey, would you like it if [A] Lyle Lovett came and sang it with you?
And I was like, you know, John, [B] let me think about that.
I'll call you tomorrow.
You know, it's [A] like, obviously.
So yeah, it was that was a [C#m] no brainer and a wonderful song.
Action.
