Paul Simon talks about Art Garfunkel chords
Start Jamming...
Just you too Diane.
So we watched you and Art Garfunkel like we used to watch Princess Diana and
Prince Charles to see the body language.
Do they like each other?
Are they together again?
Is it love [Gb] for sure?
Was it love?
[B] I don't even want to ask the question.
[Gb] Who's Diana?
[B]
Art [N] told us when he was on the show that the two of you had a couple of drinks and got cozy again
Are you gonna do it again?
He said that he did.
Yeah, did you know I don't drink
But in fact, yeah, we got along fine, you know, we've I was known each other since we're 11, yeah We've been
We've been having arguments since since we're 12
But we were fine we were fine it was just like old times it was a very enjoyable experience and
you know now
The main thing about it was the friendship is repaired and you might do a free concert in the park again
Well, that's just a rumor.
I haven't nobody's nobody's committed to anything
Yeah, well as I said, I soon as I wrote it I thought well, I'm writing this on guitar
but I'll but I'll do the record on piano and
I I'm gonna give an artiel sing this and that's the that's the way it'll have to go.
I really owe
an enormous
thank you to
my buddy and
sometimes partner in song art Garfunkel
Kind of singing and I'm [Ab] grateful for it.
Particularly when I look at the I mean the irony of it is that
my [N] my old friend art Garfunkel
Hasn't been able to sing for a year and a half.
He has a problem with a part of his left vocal cord and
He can't say
It's better but it's It's
15 or 16 months now
Yes, you can he can talk he can sing in the upper register
I can sing in the lower register.
He can't sing in the whole middle register
so [Ab] it's I mean terribly frustrating for him and and [N] and
Hard for me to you know to watch my friend suffer with this
That's you know, or [Ab] any musician to suffer with the loss of their their instrument
Hopefully in time [B] it will get better.
There's no there [Ab] doesn't seem to be any treatment for it
So hopefully [N] just time will make it better and if it does get better in time
Maybe we'll sing
one last time I
Would like to sing with him, you know, maybe one more time and do do a small farewell
Farewell to her just for the you know, just for the pleasure of singing singing with him one more time.
I see him
You know and talk to him, but this has been really quite an ordeal for him a guy who guy who had you know?
one of the
one of the you know, most famous voices of his generation and then he
Gets a gets a virus and
It doesn't it doesn't heal up the way it usually does so it's I mean more than frustrating for him
But should you know should he heal and I really do pray that it does then I would like to sing
You know just you know one more time and maybe do 10 10 or 15 shows and say goodbye
[Cm] [Ab] Sting you're obviously [Gm] no slouch in the [Eb] vocal stakes
But you're gonna be singing bridge over troubled water, which is a really big [G] song.
How do you approach that?
with respect I think it's one of the greatest songs ever written and
so I'm very honored to be able to
Try and do it justice.
I
Think [Abm] I've got funcles [Em] version of that song is you know, you can't touch it
But I [A] bring something something of myself to the song and then we sing sing part of it together
[D] It's just a lovely thing [G] to be able to do I never I never thought I would ever do that
[A] Particularly with him on [G] stage.
So it's quite [D] quite a moment
