[Eb] This is Gospel Music Today.
We're in Louisville, Kentucky at the National [B] Quartet Convention,
[N] and it's a great thrill to be talking to someone that you've seen on our program several times.
This is Peg [E] McCamey of the McCameys.
Welcome to Gospel Music Today.
Thank you, [F] Brother Ken.
It's a pleasure to be with you.
[Em] It's wonderful to [G] be talking to you, believe me.
We've seen your [Eb] songs on the program many times.
Give me [E] a little bit of information [Eb] about the background of the McCameys.
Sure.
I'm one of 12 [Eb] children.
My [Ab] daddy was a preacher.
I married Mr.
Reuben.
He's one of [B] 12 children.
His daddy was a preacher.
We have a lot in common.
His family was a singing [F] family, and my family was a singing family.
So we [B] had a lot in common.
We married, and then when the rest of our family that we sang [G] with
decided [N] to slow down and all, we just kept going with our children and so forth.
So it's been a family affair, and our roots are deep in the church.
That's excellent.
Who influenced [Ebm] the McCameys when the McCameys started out?
My [G] older sister, [D] Dora, sang a lot of [Eb] solos with [E] Daddy's ministry, my daddy being a [Eb] preacher.
And even in church she would sing.
And then when she married, [Ab] she influenced Carol, [Eb] my sister and myself,
to help her sing a song at [F] church that morning as a trio.
[N] And she showed us our parts in her little kitchen, and we sang that day,
and we've been singing nonstop since then.
That's been a long time ago.
That's great.
What's coming up new for the McCameys?
New is a project [A] that's in the making.
It'll be released [Eb] in [F] November.
It's going to be called The Old Paths.
We're singing [E] all new songs and great songs that [Bbm] remind us to come back to God.
[G] And that's what our message and the theme is going to be for the next [N] year of traveling
is to try to get people to repent and return to God.
It's a good project.
Thank you very much.
It's been a great pleasure to have you on Gospel Music.
My pleasure.
I appreciate it.
[Eb] Thank you, and thank you for [Ebm] what you do for Southern Gospel Music.
[F] We love you, too. You're welcome.
