[Ab] [Fm] [Bbm]
[Ab] [Db] I started listening [Gb] to a lot more jazz in [Bbm] my teenage years, [Ebm] in my late teens, and I
started listening to Django Reinhardt for instance, [Bbm] and I was [Gb] very influenced [Fm] by what
he did, [Bb] and the very romantic [Bbm] and [Ab] forceful way that he [Db] played [Gb] on the guitar.
So I loved [F] his music, and [Db]
[Fm] I can probably cite him as an influence.
I mean, there's many people I've listened to, but I don't know if they influenced me [Bbm] that much.
I listened to Earl Kluge as well, a [Ab] whole lot, and when I was in my twenties, he was
a great influence on me.
So [B] a lot of guitar [Gb] players, Jimi Hendrix, [B] [Eb] I loved [Fm] Jimi Hendrix when he was [Gb] [Ab] in his [Gb] heyday,
but I don't [Ab] know if anything that [Gb] he did influenced me, I [Ab] can't really say.
Every musician has influences, but there are so many, [Bbm] and it all comes out, and it's all
unconscious and it all comes out in the playing, [Ab] and it's not [Db] something that you consciously
[Ebm] think about, well I'm going to try to play like this guy or like that [Db] guy.
[Gb]
Also Eric Clapton, when I was younger I listened to a lot of Eric Clapton, and I learned to
play a lot of his music note for note, [E] [Abm] but I don't know if that influenced me the way
I play [Ebm] now.
It probably does, but I can't really tell.
Who unfortunately passed away a few months [Db] ago.
I remember him with this song, which we recorded [Bbm] together very late one night in New York City.
We called it Midnight in [Ab] Manhattan.
