Hey [Em]
[F] [G]
[Dm] guys, welcome back [E] today.
We got another cool lesson for you.
[B] We're talking [E] about the
churchy preaching chorus.
So how to back up [Db] your [Gb] pastor or preacher as they're tuning up.
[D]
So let's jump right into it.
[E] We're in a KSC as always.
It's easier to [Bb] explain.
So let's start
with the bass notes.
[Fm] [Gb]
[G] [F] All right.
So that's the [Db] typical thing the organ player is calling out
[D] the numbers.
You start with the stabs.
[E] Then as you build, you might get, you know, get to hold
the note a little bit more sustained.
So we're starting on that three [Ab] of C.
So that's E.
And so
we're walking from the three all the way to the five.
So from E to [E] G.
[F] [Em]
All right.
So we've, [D] we've
talked about these seven chords I'm going to [Am] introduce in a previous [D] lesson.
So we'll do the
one [C] over the three.
[E] So that's the first inversion.
So that's a C with an E in the bass.
[E] [C]
As we walk
up, we'll go to the [F] four.
So that's [A] our F.
[C]
Then we have [Em] our G flat diminished [Ab] seven.
[A] [E] So we learned
in the diminished lesson [D] that that fully diminished chord [Gb] is movable by minor third.
[A] So same [C]
[F] [C] chord,
just a different [Db] inversion.
[Gb] So we [C] have the one over three, [F] four,
[Ebm] [Db] then the five.
[C]
[Db] So over the [D] five,
we're actually playing a [C] diminished seven chord [G] with the five in the bass.
[Db] So that's the [E] C7 with
the [Gm] five in the bass.
[Ab] So, so that would be the second inversion.
So C7 [C] with a G in the bass.
[E] But the way we're going to form that, we're going to leave the third out and we're going to [E] make it,
you know, convenient so we can stay in that same little shape and box right there.
So we have that
[G] B flat, [C] C, and then G.
So we're leaving the third, we're leaving the [Db] E out of it.
[C]
And so that's
convenient.
[F] [F] [Gb] [C]
[F] [C] It's [Dbm] convenient when we're [A] moving right there in that little shape.
[E] So if we put it all
together, [C] [F]
[Db] [C] [N]
all right, so, and I'm comping, so I'm using just a [Dbm] higher string.
So from [A] that D to E,
[Ab] because I'm assuming that you will have a bass player.
So you let that guy handle all the bass
notes.
If not, you can play the full [C] chords.
[F] [Am]
[E] [Eb]
[E] [C]
[N] So all that works.
So let's add a little flavor to
it.
Put a little licks to it.
[C]
[Am]
[E] [Gb]
[A] [Gm]
[G] [C]
[Am] [F] [Eb]
[E] [F] [G]
[E] [C]
[F]
[Eb] [A]
[Bb] [B] [C]
All [E] right, so I just introduced some more [D] chords.
So this is similar
if you're doing, you know, a little shop [E] music.
All right, so we know the first half, but once
we get up to [Em] that six or the five, [A] well, I'm sorry, the A, that's the six.
[B] [C] [D] We're [Em] walking up
using dominant chords.
So dominant seven chords.
So [A] A seven, [Bb] [B] [C]
all the way up to that [Ab] C.
But again,
I'm comping, so I'm using [G] the top half of that.
[B]
[C] [N] So the whole thing.
[F] [Gb]
[C] [A]
[Bb] [B]
[C] [C]
[F]
[Dm]
[E] [Eb] [E]
[Em]
[Dm] [Ebm] [A]
[E] [A]
[Dm] All right, so we [Db] have a D
minus [Dm] seven.
[Bb] So that's the same shape [F] as the F major.
[Bm] We'll put the F in the bass, that's the
four.
[B] If we put the D in the bass, [Dm] that's the two.
[C] [Db] Half step up with the fully diminished.
[A] [C] [B]
[E] On
the three, we're going to do [Em] a substitute.
We're going to play a half diminished.
So we're going
to do E [Ab] minus seven flat five.
[E]
And then we'll turn it around with [A] a sharp nine, A sharp nine.
[Ab] And so we talked a little bit about theory using the two, five, one, and the last diminished
lesson.
So check that out if you're a little confused about why I'm playing with a flat.
[Dm]
[A] [E]
[G] [Dm]
[E]
All right, here's some more ideas you can do.
[G] You can go to the flat seven, four, [B] and then the one.
So in the key of C, the flat seven, well, the seven is B.
So flat that one more time,
[Bb] you have B flat.
So we're going to play a B flat major.
Then we're going to go to [A] the F,
and then back to the C.
[F] [C]
[E] All right, let's do some different voicings.
So
[Bb]
[F]
[Cm] [Em]
[Bb] [A]
[C] [C]
[N]
if we can do a little bit more of a voicing, we can do a little bit more of a voicing.
All right, guys.

_ _ if we can do a little bit more of a voicing, we can do a little bit more of a voicing.
