[Bbm]
[Bb] So one time we got invited to play on the Grand Ole [B] Opry.
[D]
And I gotta tell you, whenever they call and ask us to [C] do that, we drop everything because
it's the mother church [F] of country music as far as [Bb] I'm concerned.
[C] [G]
So [N] anyway, the cool thing is that you get to [Bb] do two shows and you sing two songs at
about 7.30. [N] and then later, I don't know, 9.30. or 10 or whatever show you're on late at night, you do two more songs. And so the thing is that it [Cm] was at the Ryman [Gm] Auditorium, which is originally where it was, and there's all these bars [Eb] right along the backstage [C] door in downtown Nashville [E] where you can go honky [G] tonking in between your shows [B] if you so [Bb] desire. [Gb] So needless [Gb] to say, we have a tradition of going over and having a [D] beer or something in between two [Bb] shows. So [Ab] I'm getting ready for our second show and the stage manager tells me, [C] comes up to me and I'm just [D] standing there kind of [Em] tuning my guitar, [Bb] you know, standing at the side of the stage and I know, I've seen it [Bb] 20 minutes or something, I'm just a little nervous [Gb] because it's always the Opry, I'm always a little nervous. And the stage manager [Bb] comes up and says, little Jimmy Dickens is sick tonight, you're going on in two minutes instead of 20. I said, but my [Db] band's not here. He said, it's [Bb] live radio, son, figure it out. Oh [G] shit. So [Gb] I told my wife and my manager, we were standing there, go find the band. [Bb] And so I walked out on the [C] microphone and it says, ladies and gentlemen, Randy Lawson. And I [E] said, here I am with my guitar folks, you know what, I'm going to do this song just like I [G] wrote it in my living room and maybe [D] the band will show up sometime. [Gm] So [C] [Ab] along about halfway through the first verse, Ashley [Gb] shows up and she got her microphone just in [A] time to sing harmony on the [N] chorus. And then about halfway through all the first [G] chorus, you know, the guys all fall in. [Db] [Bb] She's back there like, [N] you know, climbing over the drums, not being seen. [Gm] [N] So at the end of the first chorus, they come in like gangbusters, just like we meant to do it, like we had planned it that way all along. [G] [Bb] So [Gm] now that's how we do this. You say this ain't over yet. [G] I said things [D] that I regret. [Gm] Won't be easy [C] to forget. [Em] Scarf stick, [D] chandelier heat. [C] For another bit of word kisses. I was [G] hoping we could [A] call it [D] truce. Nobody [G] wins. We both [Em] lose. Heart [D] gets broken and love gets [C] bruised. Won't we light that same old fuse again and again? Nobody wins. [Em] Slamming doors. We were [D] lost and tired [C] before. And I won't play that [A] game no more. Nobody [G] wins. [C] [G] [Em] [D]

[D] [G] Why do we have to miss trying? [C] This is what [D] it was all about. [G] I'm still [C] in black and [Em] white. I'm free [D] and I'm young. [C] All I want is to hold you tight. I keep it under [D] the name of pride. Nobody [G] wins. We [Em] both lose. Heart [D] gets broken and love [C] gets bruised. Won't we light that [G] same [Am] old fuse [G] [D] again and again? [G] Nobody wins. [Em] Slamming doors. We were [D] lost and tired before. [C] And I won't play [G] that game [Am] no more. [D] Nobody [G] wins. [F] Now don't look [C] into the grave. Everybody's gonna [Bm] get [E] nobody. [A] We [Gbm] both lose. Heart [E] gets broken and love gets [D] bruised. Won't we light that same old [Bm] fuse [E] again and again? Nobody [A] wins. Slamming [Gbm] doors. We [E] were lost and tired before. [D] And I won't play that game [Bm] no more. [E] Nobody [A] wins. [Gbm] [E]
